Thank you to everyone who took part in our 21st Annual Pre-harvest Fest! It was a great success as always, with delicious food, delectable wine and wonderful people!

For Oak Barrel Staff, summertime means 3 things: Lagers and BBQ and getting prepared for Wine. We recently got together with friends and made tasty treats while we brewed three different lagers: A Schwarzbier, a Northern German Pils and a Lite Lager. Our favorite is the American Lite Lager, Screaming Eagle. We need something light to drink while we're working those hot wine season days. Here is the recipe for those that are interested! Screaming Eagle, 5.5 gallons:... 6 lbs Belgian Pilsner Malt 1.25 lbs Flaked Rice (cooked) 0.75 lbs Flaked Corn Mash at 148F Boil for 90 minutes total 60 min - 4 IBUs Hallertau Hersbrucker 15 min - 4 IBUs Hallertau Hersbrucker Pilsner Lager Yeast - 145+b cells - Ferment at 48F 1.037 @ 72% efficiency - 8 IBUs You may be thinking "that's just bud light", but trust us...when you make it yourself and do it right, a fresh Lite American Lager is the best treat on a hot summer day!
