Importance of rest days Rest days are just as important as working out. Inadequate rest may lead to overtraining, which occurs when you train beyond the body’s ability to recover. Performing excessive amounts of exercise without proper rest and recovery may lead to more harm than good. Your body needs to rebuild itself. When you work out, you create microscopic tears in your muscle fibers. For your muscles to become stronger, these fibers need to repair themselves. The only ...way they can do that is if you give them time and nutrients. Not to mention it gives you a psychological break from the wear and tear you out your body through mentally and physically. Give your body time to rest. Of course you feel accomplished after a great workout, and of course, you want to do more, you might even feel like you’re killing your progress when you rest - you’re not. You are actually doing your body a favor by giving it time to recover and rest. Your fitness journey is not going to be easy. It’s going to require a lot of hard work and dedication. You’re going to constantly need to challenge yourself and get out of that comfort zone. But once you do so, everything will be worth it at the end. Challenging ourselves helps us gain new knowledge & skills to help us transform into a better and stronger version of you. Build that self belief but overcoming challenges, prove to yourself and others that you are a force to be reckoned with, & learn to rise above any situation that’s thrown at you. How you handle yourself through works outs can also reflect the way you handle yourself outside of the gym.

A million thanks to all our amazing clients, and all the rest of you who have supported and put your trust in us through the years. Today, September 1st marks 10 years since O2 BodyFit opened its doors and started transforming lives within the community. O2 BodyFit was founded by very passionate fitness entrepreneurs who had a vision and drive to create a safe, motivating, and nonjudgmental fitness environment for everyone, while transforming as many lives as possible for the... better. In September of 2010, we held our 1st class with only 4 active members in a dance studio at WSPA in Daly City. After several months of some uncertainty and discussions if we could really do this, O2, knowing it had so much to offer to the people in the community, decided to stay committed to its mission. It was from this point on when O2 started to really grow. We expanded our classes to outdoors, and also added another indoor location inside a Kung Fu studio (a quick shoutout to the WSPA, March Bank Park, Westborough Park, and Silver Dragon crews). It would not be until 2016 when we finally secured our own space that we could build and make our own. All those 6 years of transporting equipment in the car and driving around from location to location to hold our fitness classes, all seemed to pay off once we had a place that we could really call and make it feel like home. We would also like to take this opportunity to thank all of our current amazing fitness coaches and those that are no longer with us. O2 BodyFit would not be in the position it is in to positively impact all the people we have had over the years without the commitment and passion of our coaches, both past and present. Learn Fresh is a transformative nonprofit that empowers educators with STEM learning experiences but around sports and entertainment. With an explicit focus on serving in low-income communities; students who engage in Learn Fresh programs discover a new way of learning ...that is fun and results in academic and social-emotional growth. NBA Math Hoops, Learn Fresh’s flagship program, engages 4-8th grade students in fundamental math and social-emotional learning through the game of basketball. Whether you participate in the workout or not, please feel free to donate to this wonderful cause. With a $20 donation, you’ll get a workout class and 4 raffle tickets for some fun prizes! Happy New Year, O2 BodyFit Family! We are thrilled to announce our new program - Yoga for EveryBODY led by our very own Coach Jen! It’s yoga for your body and every body. Coach Jen has thoughtfully designed a program to complement your boot camp workouts with fundamental yoga movements, poses and breathing techniques. Yoga for EveryBODY will be held for 6 consecutive Sundays from 10:00AM to 11:30AM starting on January 19. Cost is $199 per person. I was looking for a program with the right amount of intensity and variety that would keep me coming back for more, and O2 had it. 2. How has joining O2 changed your life? I’ve lost a lot of weight, I have more energy, sleep better and my mood has improved significantly. I really look forward everyday to my workouts at O2. 3. What do you look for...ward to when you take a class at O2? The energy in the gym, the challenge of the workouts and the feeling of accomplishment I get at the end of each and every workout. 4. What are your plans for the holidays? Spending time with my family and friends, eating all that fantastic food prepared with so much love, and double workouts at O2; one in the morning and the second one in the afternoon. 5. What kind of fitness advice would you give to someone who is struggling to get into a gym routine? Just show up everyday, embrace the challenge, the body will hurt but is mainly a mental game. If you can get passed the mental games that your mind is playing with you, you will lose the weight and get in better shape. 6. Goals for the year 2020? Continue to lose weight and body fat, I want to go back to the shape I was a few years ago. Maybe run a marathon again. 7. Favorite quote: This is your life and is ending one minute at a time! Weekend Warriors classes - please check start times! - Saturday 12/14 (Location TBD) at 8:00AM - Sunday 12/22 (Location Sweeney Ridge) at 9:00AM These are free bonus classes for O2 Members. Encourage friends/family $20 per class to come experience O2 Weekend Warriors with you. Guest can pay the trainer directly before the class starts. 4). Lake Merced Run Sunday 12/29 at 8:00AM For the runners out there that would like to run as an O2 family: we will hold a group run around Lake Merced. It is approximately 4.5mi around the entire lake. However, if you do not want to run the entire lake, we will be marking off distances throughout for you to turn around and complete 1mi, 2mi, or 3mi.
