Amazing Above Normal April Precip for Srn CA (some areas saw up to 400-500% of normal) and below normal for Nrn CA and much of NV. In April, Nrn Sierra received 2.8 in (73% Avg April), Central Sierra (SJ) 4.4 in (125% Avg) and Srn Sierra (Tulare) 5.2 in (208% Avg). Early next week precip may return to Nrn CA and Nevada.

Moister March than February but still below normal March precip for much of Nrn CA and above normal for most of Srn CA. Nrn Sierra (81% avg) and San Joaquin (101% avg) had 6.2 inches. Tulare (76% avg) had 3.5 in. Seasonal Average Precip about 50-55% for the Sierra. More precip expected this weekend into early next week over the region.

2020 is off to a fairly dry start for most of CA/NV with below average precipitation for January except portions of the far north. Northern Sierra precip about 53% of avg for Jan and SJ Basin 18% and Tulare basin 12%. CPC February outlook is leaning towards below normal precip.
The latest storm system to impact the region (Wednesday night into this morning 1/17/20) has moved off toward the east, leaving widespread precipitation across California and lesser amounts over Nevada. Here are the storm total precipitation totals, liquid equivalent where it snowed. 1-2 feet of snow was reported in the Sierra. A weaker system is expected to bring precip to NW CA and Srn Oregon tomorrow and another system late Monday into Tuesday will bring precip over Northern CA and Southern Oregon and Northern Nevada. A storm system brought widespread showers to southern CA/NV up into the Sierra as well as NW CA. Highest totals in the past 48 hours were in SE and far SW CA, where amounts were 1-2" and locally 3-4" in the higher terrain of San Diego County. #cawx #nvwx
