NWB spent the weekend capturing aerial images for a local biology firm. The task was to map vernal pools immediately after the heavy rains. Using GIS software we will also measure the surface area of each pool. We enjoy being on the forward end of infusing technology into the environmental services field.

Whether it’s early mornings, weekends, or late night, NWB supports SDG&E with professionalism and dedication. Late night cultural construction monitoring with Archaeologists Mark Abelon & Michael Bucky Buxton.

NWB was presented with a Patriotic Employer Award from the Office of the Secretary of Defense for our support of staff member Jezreel Ontiveros who was deployed last fall to Sonoma California during the devastating fires. We are tremendously proud of Jezreel as well as our other 5 military veteran staff members.

Congratulations to NWB's Archaeologist & GIS Technician Jezreel Ontiveros. Today he was selected to be a member of the San Diego County Honor Guard. Jezreel is also a Sergeant in the Army Reserve unit 670 Military Police Company. At NWB, we encourage & support our staff's volunteer activities.

NWB is extremely proud to welcome back Archaeologist & GIS Tech Jezreel Ontiveros from the fires in Sonoma. Jezreel is currently a reserve Sergeant in the National Guard after serving 9 years in the US Army. His reserve unit, 670th Military Police Company, was activated and deployed to Sonoma County to assist the local law enforcement with law and order by keeping security of evacuated homes and supplies, operate traffic control points, and conduct routine patrols. NWB currently employs 7 military veterans as part of its staff of archaeologists!!

Good bye Trimble! Hello Arrow 100! NWB has made the switch. We're using this unit with our iPad Mini's. We are comparing the three optional software apps: Survey123, Collector, or AmigoCollect. If anyone has a strong recommendation on software apps, we would definitely love to have you chime in! Thanks in advance!

Archaeologist Spotlight: Phillip Bosque is one of five military veterans at NWB. Phill served honorably for 13 years in the US Army. He served two tours in Iraq. He is a graduate of San Diego State University where he obtained a BA in Anthropology. At NWB he leads NWB's role in the SDG&E FiRM Program.

NWB welcomes Kirsten Hutzler as our intern for Summer 2016. She will be a Senior at Lindenwood University in St. Charles, Missouri, achieving a Bachelors in Anthropology and Minor in Business Administration. While in school, she also competes year-round on the 2 time National Champion sychronized swimming team at Lindenwood University. While home for the summer, she is doing an internship for NWB Environmental, an internship for the San Diego Archeological Center working with Cara Ratner, and coaching her home synchronized swimming team.
