Nutrition for Seizures 13.07.2021

To piggyback on my last post, I've been following the research on COVID19 and supplementation. I've gathered from several scientists and even a respiratory specialist that treats COVID19 that the following life style choices and supplements may help minimize the symptoms of COVID19. The supplements are safe (my family and I have been taking them). However, there are often individuals that are sensitive to these supplements due to immune hyperactivity. Please, as with an...y change, consult your physician and make one change at a time. Quality Sleep- melatonin (the nighttime sleep hormone) possesses antiviral activity. Vitamin D3- up to 4000 IUs per day (outstanding research on the effectiveness of reducing upper respiratory infections). Vitamin D3 is extremely beneficial to neurological function as well. Start watching at 3 minutes in the video below. Quercitin- up to 600mg per day with zinc (as tolerated). Quercetin can be effective at helping zinc enter the cells and combat immune suppressing infections. 7 minutes in the video below. Zinc- up to 50mg per day (as tolerated). Vitamin C- up to 1000mg per day. If oxalates are present consult with a practitioner. NAC- up to 600mg per day even 2 times per day. Again as tolerated and should be used with caution if high yeast is present. I follow this medical doctor and if you are interested fast forward to 3 minutes and 7 minutes. Wishing you all tremendous preventative health through this time. https://youtu.be/NM2A2xNLWR4

Good research showing that Patients with epilepsy are not susceptible to contracting COVID19 more than other individuals. Furthermore, COVID19 in patients with epilepsy is not associated with a more severe illness or a poorer prognosis. The research does mention that there may be an increase in seizure activity if a patient tests positive for COVID-19. 37,968 patients were reviewed for this study. https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1111/ane.13404

Mainstream media is pushing the flu vaccine heavily. However the risks far outweigh the value. Please refer to this great resource by the Physicians for Informed Consent, represented by over 30 health professionals that are doing the research. https://physiciansforinformedconsent.org/education-flu-vac/

It’s been an extremely trying year for so many people around the world that even I became disconnected from social media but NOT from my work. I apologize that I’ve been distant to you but I’m feeling recharged and ready to share my work, research and findings. I’ll start out light, but important with how to address Halloween this year with the many health challenges you face and the COVID19 pandemic. Our children deserve some normalcy, fun and this link provides great options. https://nourishinghope.com/healthy-halloween-trick-or-tre/

I know many of your children are staying home for the start of school, but I love this checklist for creating meals. This can be posted on the refrigerator and referred to for every meal and factors in some dietary restrictions. Thank you Julie Matthews! http://nutritionforseizures.com//08/SchoolLunchMeal-Ideas.

Continuing research with regard to gut microbiome and drug resistant-seizure disorders. I dream of the day that you are supported by a gastro-neurologist. The authors conclude: "Dysbiosis may be involved in the mechanism of drug-resistant epilepsy and restoring the gut microbial community may be a novel therapeutic method for drug-resistant epilepsy." https://www.sciencedirect.com//a/abs/pii/S0920121118302584
