This is something I often ask my clients. On a scale from 1-10, 10 being the highest, how much are you willing to change right now? Also, how committed are you to change? It’s really helpful to do this and check in with yourself. If you are at a low number then why? Or.. if you are at an 8, how come not a 10? What is preventing you from being a 10? Try this scale when you are doubtful or concerned about change, or when the different voices in your head start to take over. Fo...r more information on this, contact me directly . I would love to support you. #certifiedeatingdisorderdietitian #nutritionbyellen #changescale #checkinginvoices #certifiedeatingdisordersprofessional #changeyourmindset #edsupport #supportwithchange #betruetoyourself #dietitiansofinstagram

Can we talk about oils for a minute? DID YOU KNOW... that there are different types of oils and each react differently in the body? Oils such as organic extra virgin olive, avacado, virgin coconut, walnut, almond, macadamia, flax and hemp are all very beneficial oils for our health and reducing inflammation in the body. Oils that start with the letters S and C , such as soybean, corn, canola, safflower, sunflower as well as palm and anything that says hydrogenated , w...ill be more inflammatory to the body. Women that are especially struggling with hormone imbalance, take note! Getting more of these anti- inflammatory oils in your diet, as well as reducing these inflammatory oils and fats will make a big difference in how you feel and getting those hormones on the right track! For more information on how to create a better diet for hormone balance and reducing inflammation, contact me for a free 15 minute consultation. #nutritioncoach #nutritionbyellen #oils #antiinflammatorydiet #hormonehelp #dietitiansofinstagram #pcos #menopause #perimenopausehealth #womensupportingwomen #womenshormones #oliveoil #mufa #nutritiontips #nutritionlosangeles #dietitiansofinstagram #registereddietitian #endocrinedietology #registereddietitiannutritionist #fatsandoils

What are some things that you do for yourself that represent Self Care? Taking a shower? Washing your clothes? Getting a good night sleep? Exercising? Cleaning your room? Yes these are definitely all self care routines. But guess what else falls under the category of self care?... Eating and nourishing your body! Our bodies need fuel about every 3-4 hours, so it is important to prioritize eating and taking care of that body of yours. If you know you will not h...ave proximity to food for a long time, make sure to bring snacks with you or plan ahead. We don’t want our energy and hunger levels to fall too low which can create possibilities of overeating, choosing foods that don’t serve us , creating havoc on our metabolism, having blood sugar levels fall too low which can impact our health and well being on many different levels, or possibly create disordered eating patterns. So remember to eat please! And always take time for yourself and self care. What do you do for self-care? Share in the comments below

DID YOU KNOW... that you don’t only have to have cysts on your ovaries to be diagnosed with having PCOS? The Rotterdam Criteria is how PCOS should be diagnosed and it says, if you have 2 out of the three criteria, than you have PCOS. 1 Irregular menses or no menses. 2 Elevated androgen levels in blood or symptoms such as excess facial hair, hair loss, acne, skin tags, dark patches of skin ,weight gain around mid section, etc.... 3Cysts on ovaries ( string of pearls) visible on ultrasound. PCOS is an endocrine condition which creates an endocrine storm. Seeing an endocrinologist and a dietitian that specializes in PCOS will be able to give you some great support to get through some of the obstacles that PCOS brings! For more information.. if you or someone you know, is struggling with PCOS, contact me for a free 15 minute consultation! #nutritionbyellen #pcosawareness #pcosdietitian #hormonesupport #pcossupport #pcosweightloss #pcospregnancy #pcoshairloss #pcosacne #hirsutism #endocrinesystem #endocrinedisorder #dietitiansofinstagram #hormonedietitian #nutritioncoach #registereddietitian #hopeforpcos #hopeforpcossufferers #pcoshelp #hormonehelp

What is The Apple Test? It’s actually a tool that I give to my clients to help them determine if they are truly hungry. The thought is are you hungry enough right now that you can eat an apple? Many times when we are not hungry, we can still eat things like donuts, chips and other foods that go right to the bloodstream. However, an apple ( or carrot )is sometimes more desirable when we are truly hungry. This is only one, of many tools, that one can use when they are try...ing to figure out if they are hungry ..and if not, then why are we craving food right now? What are we thinking or feeling? Thanks Jessica @understandingnutrition for teaching me this many years ago! Hopefully I explained it properly . #theappletest #appletest #areyouhungry #intuitiveeating #nutritionbyellen #mindfuleatingcoach #edsupport #cedrd #certifiedeatingdisorderdietitian #nutritionlosangeles #dietitian

Fear is a strong emotion. With an eating disorder, it can be very apparent especially with food. Sometimes , fear brings out anxieties that can come up around food which can prevent you from wanting to try those foods or have them be a part of your life. This in turn, contributes to disordered eating, deprivation, depression and possibly being malnourished. I like to work with my clients on Exposure Therapy, having them try the foods they fear the most, in a safe and supporti...ve way, so that they can break free of those fears and false misconceptions. Don’t let fear get in your way anymore. You deserve to be happy and heal that ugly eating disorder voice on your head! Contact me directly if you are ready to conquer your fears! . #fear #fightfear #conqueryourfears #nutritionbyellen #eatingdisordersdietitian #eatingdisorderrecovery #cedrd #certifiedeatingdisorderdietitian #edsupport #exposuretherapy #exposuretherapyworks
