A mood, somewhat regular to her demeanor, was elevated by the dry, fruity, spicy, and somewhat nutty saison she was drinking. She often suffered bouts of laughter. Laughter that sounded like some cagey Mesozoic bird--a stuttering cackle cresting to a salient shriek. it was one of these bird call chortles that had just halted all conversation.
