Supporters of the Asian American and Pacific Islander community took to the streets on foot and wheels for a Skate to End Hate’ event held at Tustin Legacy Skatepark in Fullerton, CA last Saturday. The rally was held in response to the increase of anti-Asian hate crimes in America within the past year including a recent attack at the skatepark that targeted a Korean American, Jenna Dupuy.

Here's a few things we learned: * An estimated 22 million Asian Americans live in the US, making up nearly 7% of the total population, US Census data shows. * They trace their roots to dozens of countries... * About one third of all Asian Americans live in California * Most Asians live around big cities in four states -- California, New York, Texas and Hawaii -- but for the most part, these cities are not home to a single ethnic group. * The term "Asian American" an umbrella term for dozens of ethnic groups of Asian descent is relatively new. It was first used in 1968 by University of California Berkeley graduate students as the name of an organization aimed at uniting Chinese, Korean, Japanese and Filipino Americans, among others to fight for political and social action. With a record 82 anti-trans bills introduced this year across 28 states, the right-wing attack on trans people has intensified. These attacks are only the latest tactic the anti-LGBTQ movement is using to legalize discrimination against LGBTQ people:
