The PFA cycle begins next DWE. To participate in the PFA: 1.) PHA must be up to date and current through the PFA. 2.) Complete the PARFQ on PRIMS in BOL before completing the weigh in; 3.) Conduct Weigh-in on Saturday at NOSC Gym; 4.) Conduct PRT on Sunday at Miramar Track.... For those asking about alternate cardio, the NOSC CFL staff are not offering alternate cardio unless you have a medical waiver. You may conduct the alternate cardio if you arrange to complete the PFA with a CFL from another unit who is willing to conduct it for you. You may weigh in wearing your NWU/ NSU or the PTU; however, you must be in the proper PTU to conduct the PRT. This is either the complete track suit (jacket and pants) or the t-shirt and shorts. If you are not wearing the PTU correctly, you will be directed to complete it on another weekend. If you have any questions, contact the SEL.

All members are required to review/ update and validate their Navy Family Accountability and Assessment System (NFAAS) personal and emergency contact information. This is required to be completed by 30SEP2018. Click on the NFAAS link in My Navy Portal, log in with your CAC, and verify the information is accurate. Whether or not you make changes, ensure you click the UPDATE button on each page you view. The date you complete this should reflect on the side of the page. T...his is significantly important for SELRES members as it enables the NOSC to locate your contact information if you are tagged for MOB. It also enables the NOSC to see who (you or your family) may be affected by natural disasters so we can reach out and confirm your family is safe. If you have not updated your NFAAS since April 01, go in and do so before 30 September. If you have any questions, contact the SEL.

All advancement exam participants: doors will open tomorrow at 0600 and will close at 0700. The exam will only be administered in the morning for all eligible members. Due to parking limitations, plan to arrive early. You must be in the Uniform of the Day, and are not authorized to bring anything other than your ID Card and an approved calculator (if authorized). Do not bring backpacks, food, water bottles, etc. If you do not have your ID card or you are not in the uniform of the day, you will be turned away and directed to return on Bravo weekend. Happy Friday, All! Next week is 4th of July holiday, so the NOSC will be closed Tuesday-Thursday. If you have any business to conduct there, please go in on Monday or Friday. Physical Readiness Program Change: effective immediately, Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) failures no longer automatically preclude mobilizations. Service members with PFA failures are now eligible for both voluntary and involuntary mobilizations. Sailors who fail the PFA prior to mobilization should expect to participate in teh Fitness Enhancement Program (FEP), or equivalent fitness program, at their ultimate duty station. I need everyone to verify you have a valid, working email on file in NSIPS, as well as a working phone number. Make sure your email is one you check frequently, and your phone number is one that has a working voicemail. I have been trying to reach a Sailor regarding an important resked for RC2AC, and there has been no response back to email and the voicemail box is not set up. Make sure I am able to reach you between drill weekends. If you requested my assistance with something, make sure you follow up with me until it is complete.

NROWS: If you submit orders into NROWS that will need approval, contact me via phone or email so I know your orders are waiting. As soon as you submit, contact me.

All, I'm proud to say we had 7 Sailors advance off this last exam! Names to follow once I reach everyone (so please make sure your contact phone number and email is up to date in NSIPS). If you'd like to see how you performed over all on the exam, profile sheets are available on MNP under Enlisted Advancement Profile Sheets. Congratulations to everyone who was selected to the next rank, and if you didn't make it this time, don't get discouraged! Keep reviewing the pubs and find a mentor to help you in the areas you didn't perform as well. You're time is coming, so don't give up!

Volunteer opportunity: Support a retirement ceremony on the morning of June 16th at Balboa Park. Specific details to be provided for those interested. Requested: 7 personnel. E1-E6 (one of each rank) to partake in the Passing the Flag ceremony, uniform to be dress blues with ribbons and gloves. An additional Sailor is requested as a bell ringer, uniform will be NSU. Practice will be held two days prior. If interested, contact the SEL by COB Tuesday, May 29th.

USS Somerset is looking for assistance next DWE in technical rates (GMs/ ETs/ ENG/ etc.) and anyone interested in general. If you'd like to support, contact the SEL by COB Wednesday 23 May. This is to ensure you get access to the 32nd Street Galley that weekend. A sign up sheet will be provided to volunteer for July DWE as well.
