North Valley Training Associates 20.12.2020

Hello everyone. I wanted to send a reminder out and also a heads up. The State Fire Marshal is going through with the rates increase for their classes/certs. The rate increase will start January 2021. The rate increase to their instructors will be a 250% increase. So all incident safety classes throughout CA will be increasing their prices, as to how much will depend on the vendor and their overhead. I can tell you North Valley Training will not increase their cost 250% however the cost will be increasing to 249%. Just kidding. We do not have a price yet for our 2021 classes. When we do you will be the first to know. Sorry for the bad news.

Keep an eye out for our 2021 incident safety for the hired vendor class. We should start scheduling them in January. We will schedule multiple classes in the months to come. Please don't wait until fire season. It will be too late

This is probably THE MOST important post I’ll ever make. It’s in regards to YOUR safety. If you are a firefighter and there’s ever one post that you read from m...y page, please let it be this one. I try to keep this page flowing with as many motivational posts as I can but today I want to dig deeper than that. I know so many of you that follow me are wildland firefighters and YOUR safety is a big concern to me. Whether I’ve met you or not, you are my brothers and sisters. With that said, I’ve never been able to read any of the reports from the Twisp River Fire that I was involved with. Emotionally, I can’t bring myself to do that. Today though, a report that strictly discusses my PPE was shown to me and to be honest, it gave me goosebumps. I’ve typically joked around that my equipment didn’t do anything for me because let’s be honest...... I’m roasted 70%. But after reading this report and seeing the photos, I realized that this gear helped SAVE MY LIFE. The report states that charring begins at around 825 degrees. As you can see from the photos, my clothing and gear is beyond charred. It goes on to say that I was directly exposed to temperatures of 1600-1800 degrees for several seconds. As you can see for yourself from these photos, my clothing is DESTROYED, my boot laces disintegrated, and my helmet melted in several spots. And even though my body was still severely damaged, I LIVED. If that doesn’t prove how important this gear is, then I don’t know what will. With that said, I know how miserable it can be to where this gear but for your own sake and your families sake, please wear it and wear it properly. Some day, your life might just depend on it and I want you to live to be able to tell about it. Stay safe out there my friends!
