STOP THE PRESS!!! The fishing derby is on - May 22! The Trinity Lake Lions Club just received permission from both California Fish and Wildlife and the US Forest Service to hold the annual fishing derby at the Carville pond. Watch for details to come.

Heads up! Prescribed burn on May 6. Lake Forest Plantations Prescribed Fire to begin on May 6th The Shasta-Trinity National Forest is preparing to initiate prescribed fire activities within the Lake Forest Plantations project on National Forest System lands near Trinity Center, CA. ... The main goals of the project are to reduce the severity of future wildfires, improved forest health within plantations, and provide added protection for communities in the wildland urban interface. The planned ignition unit is 70 acres in size. Actual project initiation dates will depend upon local weather and fuel conditions. Fire managers will monitor weather and fuels conditions ahead of and during the burn to ensure adherence the prescribed fire plan. Smoke will be visible in many locations including Covington Mill, Lake Forest Estates, Long Canyon and Highway 3. Residual smoke may be visible for several days and project managers will work with North Coast Unified Air Quality Management District to ensure compliance with air quality regulations and health and safety conditions. Pre-ignition public notifications will be provided to local media outlets and will also be posted on https://inciweb.nwcg.gov/incident/7268/, the Forest’s Facebook www.facebook.com/ShastaTrinityNF and Twitter www.twitter.com/ShastaTrinityNF pages. The annual Trinity Lake Lions Fishing Derby will not be able to be held again this year. Our Lions Club has done everything possible to bring back this event, but was informed that CalFish (Cal Fish and Wildlife) is still not issuing licenses for fishing events. The club will try again next year. Thank you for your continued interest in this event. The club misses hosting this fun kids day.
