Draft Training at Keeling Park in Nice with Station 85 and 80. With this years drought firefighters utilize the lake as an additional resource to help in situations where there is limited water supply.

Some of you may have noticed your Northshore Firefighters out and about in the community this week. In preparation of the approaching fire season combined with the challenges of high drought conditions, we have been scouting out any usable water sources that we may be able to access in the event of a fire. Ponds, rivers, lakes, streams, etc can all be used to pull or "draft" water into our tanks using either the main pumps on our engines or smaller, portable pumps that can ...be carried waterside. Once these water sources are accessed and determined usable, we will be adding the coordinates to these locations into our mapping systems in all of our vehicles so that all personnel can find water for suppression purposes with ease! Friday May 14 the Northshore Fire Explorers attended a youth day sponsored by the Habematolel Tribe of Upper Lake, it was an event created for the youths of the tribe to intermingle with tribal leaders and many community organizations.

For a $30 donation, we will order the sign in either vertical or horizontal orientation and come install it when it arrives. These reflective markers with 3 inch numbers allow us to easily locate your address in an emergency situation any time of the day or night. Firefighters quickly pounced on the Lyons Fire in North Lakeport on Tuesday afternoon, a blaze that threatened homes in the Lakeside Heights subdivision and nei...ghboring areas as well as Lakeside Hospital. Homes in the immediate area were temporarily evacuated. The forward progress of the fire was stopped about two hours after the blaze broke out. The source of the fire is being investigated.
