What’s better than fruitcake? Well, basically everything, but that’s not the point. The point is we want to have some holiday fun, and we need your help. ... Next week we will accept submissions in the following categories all week (and we will feature the individual categories on the days listed below). 1. Bake off - best baked goods (cookies, cakes, treats of any kind). Show us your skills. 2. Gingerbread goodness - best gingerbread creation (a cookie, a house, whatever you come up with). 3. Homemade ornaments - Do It Yourself creativity is what we are looking for. Any kind of ornament, as long as you made it, then we it. 4. Oh Christmas Tree, show us those beautifully decorated branches. We know some of you go bonkers with the holiday hoopla and we can’t wait to see what you’ve come up with this year. So get out your aprons, dust off the cookie cutters, find your glitter glue and bedazzler... let’s bake some goodies, create some decorations, light up the night and make some magic. Show us your awesome work. Be sure to submit your entries on the website so we know where to deliver prizes if (we mean, when - keeping it optimistic) you win. We hope you will share on social media too (and tag us because we have major fomo - fear of missing out). And because you just might inspire someone else to pick up a spatula. This week at the market, we will have lots of fresh fruits, eggs, veggies, flowers, and much more! Avdis Ranch will be back this Saturday with free range, pasture raised and 100% grass fed beef! Other vendors include Wheel Lemonade Simon Sudz , Upper Crust Baking , Freshway Fish , Ohana Bros Kettle Corn, Donna’s Tamales, AT&S Honey , Jams & Jellies from The Natomas Farm. Hot food vendors this week are The Pizza Company and Good Roots Cafe . Live music by Timothy Brown. Dog Park Friends! The large dog park at the North Natomas Regional Park will be closed all day next Tuesday 9/24 for maintenance. Please visit alternate large dog park locations at Valley Oak, Regency and Barandas Parks on this day. ... The small dog park will remain open.

Natomas Community Center & Aquatic Facility Ground Breaking #FutureSplashZone

The City of Sacramento and Natomas Unified School District broke ground for the North Natomas Community Center and Aquatics Facility at a special event on September 5th. We celebrated our #FutureSplashZone with food trucks, a photo booth, beach balls, and information tables from BCA Architects, Otto Construction, and Mayor Pro Tem Angelique Ashby. The construction is set to take approximately 18 months.
