EDIT: THIS IS NO LONGER UP TO DATE. PLEASE CHECK FOR MORE CURRENT INFO. Morning! Hope you all got some sleep, and remember to take care of yourself and your fa...mily now that we’ve settled into and wrapped our heads around this longer term incident. Now, for the update: As of this morning, the Glass Fire is 23,625 acres on the Sonoma County portion (43,520 acres total), with 0% containment. As I mentioned before, this incident is going to be broken into different zones and branches to manage. We are the western zone, and it looks like the two branches that are really focused on Santa Rosa are branches 7 and 5. Our area is expected to see some calmer, but shifting winds that could present some challenges throughout the day. Spotting (throwing of embers) is possible 1/4 to 1/2 mile. Smoke is expected to limit an air attack on the fire until possibly mid afternoon. Weather: expect dry conditions through the week, with little humidity recovery over night. Today will be in the 89-95 degree range with 13-16 percent humidity during the day. Winds are expected to stay in the 5-10mph range. More to come.

Thank you to the Sonoma County Democratic Party https://sonomademocrats.org/ for endorsing Yes on W to renew the City of Sonoma's Urban Growth Boundary! That's good news for open space and preventing sprawl! Yes on Measure W is also good for the climate and affordable housing. It only allows exceptions for 100 percent affordable housing outside the UGB! Read more here https://sonomaugb.com/

Gov. Gavin Newsom signed an order Wednesday that aims to end the sale of new gasoline and diesel-powered passenger cars in the state by 2035. If you want to reduce asthma, if you want to mitigate the rise of sea level, if you want to mitigate the loss of ice sheets around the globe, then this is a policy for other states to follow, https://www.sfchronicle.com//California-to-ban-sale-of-new

The warming of the planet and its impact on daily life are now difficult to ignore, with millions of acres burning in California, Oregon and Washington state, leading to dozens of deaths, tens of thousands displaced and skies filled with a smoky, dangerous haze that blocks out the sun. https://www.washingtonpost.com//5418cd62-f694-11ea-be57-d0

Humanity will have burned through all the natural resources that the planet can replenish for 2020 by Today, according to researchers who said the grim milestone is slightly later than last year after the pandemic slowed runaway overconsumption. Comparing what humans costume with what is sustainably available, they estimate that humanity is using 60 percent more than can be renewedthe equivalent of 1.6 planets. Global Footprint Network has said that efforts to control the pa...ndemic show that changing consumption habits in a short time frame is possible, adding that the overshoot date is "an unprecedented opportunity to reflect on the future we want". https://phys.org//2020-08-humans-overshoot-planetary-augus
