Fire Prevention Officers' monthly membership meeting, hosted by City of Richmond Fire Department. Rosie the Riveter is the name given to the many thousands of women who worked to assemble the hundreds of Liberty Ships that helped the United States win World War Two.

Fire Chief Adrian Sheppard of the Richmond Fire Department opened the CalChiefs NorCal Fire Prevention Officers’ meeting today. Soon thereafter, Rosie the Riveter joined our FPO meeting, on the shoreline of Richmond, California where the Kaiser Shipyards assembled as many as three ships in a day, to help win World War Two. Three ladies who worked at the shipyards during the 1940s joined us at the NorCal FPO meeting, and shared their stories. All in their 90s, these charming l...adies informed us that Richmond’s four shipyards built 747 ships during World War Two, which is a construction record that stands to this day. These impressive accomplishments inspire Richmond’s motto The City of Pride and Purpose. On another note, a $5,500.00 check was given by the NorCal FPOs to the Alisa Ann Ruch Burn Foundation, raised at the annual charity golf tournament. Thank you to Mountain Hardwear for letting us make use of your facilities at the Craneway Pavilion, next to the Rosie the Riveter WWII Home Front, National Park. Join us for the next NorCal FPO meeting in January 2020. https://firepreventionofficers.org/ https://www.aarbf.org/ https://www.nps.gov/rori/index.htm See more
