Join us in prayer as we honor our Veterans today: Almighty God, we commend to your gracious care and keeping all the men and women of our armed forces at home and abroad. Defend them day by day with your heavenly grace; strengthen them in their trials and temptations; give them courage to face the perils which beset them; and grant them a sense of your abiding presence wherever they may be; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. (BCP 823)

Jesus teaches us to come before God with humble hearts, boldly offering our thanksgivings and concerns to God or simply listening for God’s voice in our lives a...nd in the world. Whether in thought, word or deed, individually or corporately, when we pray we invite and dwell in God’s loving presence. We are grateful to our friends Virginia Theological Seminary and The General Theological Seminary who have provided this hotline, open to all those in need of prayer during the coming days. See more

From Canon Andrea: Dear Friends - after a few delays (mostly hoping against hope that I could travel and study at a seminary...) and adjusting for the realities of Covid-19, I'm heading out for a social-distanced sabbatical that will include some online study, deep prayer, time in nature and the snow, and personal creative time. See the message below for detail and who to contact while I'm away. God Bless you and I'll see you in the new year! With Love and Care - Andrea ... https://conta.cc/374RvOh

It is a night for unceasing prayer as Shasta County also faces a new fire. Napa, Sonoma; Butte County, Shasta in the north, and all those who are grieving layers of loss and trauma. We will find strength and resilience together as we hold fast to God’s eternal grace. #zoggfire #GlassFire #ShadyFire #Boysen Bishop Megan Traquair, Grace Episcopal Church, Saint Helena, All Saints' Episcopal Church, St Luke's Episcopal Church Calistoga, St. Paul's Episcopal Church of Oroville

Dear Friends in Christ - Bishop Megan asks for our prayers: We have loved ones today in the Napa Valley who are evacuating or preparing to do so. I wrote this prayer for us to use during this uncertain and anxious time. Bishop Megan is checking in with our churches in those areas and staying connected. As always: check here for prayer and go to CalFire for official fire information. Yours in Christ, Canon Andrea... #GlassFire #calfire Holy and Loving God, As this fire season continues, we ask you to protect those who anxiously prepare for evacuation. We pray for those who are making lists, packing pets in crates, soothing children, and gathering essentials. We pray for those who struggle with the panic of smoky air and falling ash as memories and trauma rise up. We thank you for officials who discern the right time to call an evacuation: knowing it might be too soon, or too late. Bless those who are driving and flying into the fire to extinguish the flames and protect our communities. We pray for the land and trees and animals. For farms and grapes; livestock and goats and horses. For our homes, communities, churches, and other beloved places of gathering, prayer, and sanctuary. Bless. Amen.

Dear Friends in Christ, This evening I learned of the death of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Her death brings to the fore many strong feelings, and I pray that we will look to our Lord Jesus Christ to comfort and guide us. We are strong, resilient, and faithful even (and especially) during this complicated and difficult time. While I am deeply grateful for Justice Ginsburg's public service, our church does not speak in partisan terms: our language is that of God'...s love and grace for all people. And so we recognize that when such a monumental change happens in our civic lives, the church is ready with prayer, consolation, and grace for all of our people. I offer that to you, today. May this day, and the days that follow, as we face personal and social challenges, be filled with the assurance of God's love and Grace. May the blessing of God Almighty, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, be with you now and always. And may the peace that passes all understanding follow you all of the days of your life. In Christ, +Megan
