Happy New Year! How do you actually stick to your New Year resolutions this year? Well, there's no such thing as a one-size-fits-all approach. At least, that's how I feel. Over the past 11 years of working with people, these are a few things that we've seen work. 1 Have a WHY and get clear on why fitness is important.... When the WHY is clear, the HOW will be easier. 2 Find Social Support This is extremely important and we've seen this at No Limit over the years. Your circle is very important. It can make or break you. You are not an island. We are all influenced by the people around us. So if you’re looking to create change, you want a social environment that will positively influence you. Be careful with whom you spend your time and energy. Find people that value self-care and that aren't energy vampires. 3 Invest In Your Health and Fitness You knew I was going to throw that in here. But really, people rarely value things when they're not invested financially. If you want to increase the chance of you sticking to your resolutions, you'll need accountability. A lot of us say we don't have money to invest in fitness but we buy a $5 Starbucks every day or run a $150 bar tab, every week. (well, pre-covid) Show me how you spend your time and your money and I’ll show you what you actually value. 4 Slow and Steady I've seen it far too often. Someone comes in super motivated, works out 6 days a week, eats extremely healthy, and gets in amazing shape in 90 days. However, 6 months later they are worse than they were before. It's never pretty and it can't be fun. If fat loss is the goal, what if you aimed for one pound per week? In 6 months that's 24 pounds and chances are, you'll keep it off. Even better, what if you set habit goals you can actually control and commit to sticking to? The side effect is progress. BONUS TIP: GET STARTED NOW!
