There seems to be a problem with the message system within Facebook and I am unable to access any messages that may or have been sent to us. Please email any questions to [email protected]. This is also our preferred method of communication as there is no way to trace or follow-up on questions or commitments via Facebook. Thank you!
I know I haven't posted anything in a while, too busy digging and shipping irises this summer. But, here's a little garden humor from the other garden.
So sorry for the silence. We've been busy. Got our new well pump lowered/installed on July 4th. Received electrical permit sign-off for the new electrical line. Connected it to the main water lines a week ago and have been tweeking the water system so now we are watering the irises. We are completing our first dig and shipment of the season; we are three weeks behind our desired schedule but on target to get caught up by next week.

Very interesting. Congratulations to the US hybridizers who won in this competition. They judge for fragrance. I know which ones we need to add to our collection.
Gary has been busy adding many photos to our website of varieties that had not been listed previously. Varieties with limited quantities that our garden visitors have been pining over. Also, many of our Dykes Medal varieties that have been slowly increasing since their planting into the Garden.
We had a very busy and I hope wonderful Mother's Day at the Garden today. Almost all the tables were full, blankets adorned the grass, and picnicers were abound. It makes us happy to have people enjoy the Irises and beauty/tranquility that we are able to provide at our Garden and Ranch. Ended the day with a visit by our good friends Dave Jarred and Lynn Tillman. Thank you for your annual Mother's Day visit to make us unwind and relax after a busy day.
Nola's been attending the AIS National Convention nearby in San Ramon this week. Meeting a few of our customers, visiting gardens who planted guest iris to be voted upon and getting to see other lovely gardens in the Bay Area. Now back to work with many blooms happening in our own Garden. Gotta get out there to work.
Although the flowers are slow in coming, the few that have opened are huge due to all the rain. Largest flowers we've seen in years.
Exciting changes coming. Stay tuned for updates during the week.
Local friends. Looking for some volunteers to help clean up the iris beds before we open. Pulling old leaves. Requires some bending. Lunch provided (probably a BBQ). Maybe throw in some irises too! Maybe this weekend, Saturday or Sunday. Hours from 10am-2pm. However, if someone isn't working and would like to come during the week, that's great too! I have some extra gardening gloves, if needed.
Countdown has begun. Garden will open on Saturday, April 13. With only some very early blooms. We are very late blooming this year. The dwarfs that are usually blooming in March are now blooming! I see bloom stalks just beginning to emerge.
Garden season is approaching. I'm receiving calls to schedule group visits. This year, we'll again be visited by the water color painting group Santa Clara Valley Watercolor Society (SCVWS). Here is a link to a post about one of their visits to our Garden along with some wonderful pictures of their paintings. We are looking forward to this wonderful group again. http://scvwspaintsites.blogspot.com//nolas-iris-garden-419
