Our founder and chief veterinarian, Dr. Monica Rudiger, previously announced her planned retirement at the end of 2020. In the attached letter, she shares her heartfelt gratitude and makes one last request of the Nine Lives community. Please read her letter and then join us in thanking her for all the incredible work she has done for our community.

Help us celebrate Shakespeare’s amazing recovery this #TransformationTuesday! Shakespeare came to us looking like a small drowned rat! He was only six weeks old, weighed a mere 12 oz, and had ringworm to boot!! He was also weak, shaky, and had to be tube fed because he wouldn’t eat on his own. But after weeks of loving care (and lots of baby food!), he gained weight, got stronger, and began to heal. And he found his new friend Ophelia, an abandoned street kitten who helped him learn to be playful. Once the pair were strong enough to be adopted, they didn’t last long on the Adoption Center floor! They were adoptedtogether the first day they were available, and will be going home with their furever family this week! We are so happy for them both <3

2021 Nine Lives Foundation Calendars have arrived! This year's calendar has more fantastic felines than ever before, making every day purrr-fect! Thank you to everyone who submitted photos for the contest, voted for your favorite photos or already ordered calendars. Transport Covered Courtesy Post: There are two cats that need transport from the San Jose Animal Care Center to their rescue in San Juan Capistrano (almost San Diego, but not quite). Carriers can be borrowed from the shelter.
