Thank you to so very many people for their support during the pandemic. To see a smiling face (or at least smiling eyes) after a couple of days of isolation or to get a glimpse of the community that quilters share has made a huge difference in my weeks and months alone. We have been through so much during the last year, between covid, the political and social chaos, and the ongoing struggles to wrap our arms around the new challenges of weather, inequilty of resources, and to...ilet paper shortages. I believe that we have all broadened our perspectives and sharpened our senses of empathy and compassion. I hope we are all better and smarter people in the aftermath of 2020. I also hope that 2021 is the year when we see a return to normality. My reflections have clarified for me all the wonders of owning this shop. Imagine my surprise, at 60 years of age, when I managed to learn enough about retail to run a shop and stumbled upon this truly magical hidden world of quilters - women who will give of themselves even when you do not know you need their offerings. Thank you to all of you who led by example, told me stories, encouraged me, lectured me, joked with me, and cried with me. Thank you for the quilting tips, homemade jelly, cookies, bread and goulash, seeds from your heirloom stocks, offers of dinner and use of your beach houses (yes, more than one). But, most of all, thank you for your friendship. It is with mixed feelings that I am announcing the closure of the Nimble Thimble Quilt Shop. It is time for the next big adventure. I'm not quite sure exactly what that adventure will look like, but it will involve sewing, and I think it will be something you might want to participate in. I will be in touch. The Nimble Thimble will be open EVERY DAY IN MAY, 11am - 4pm. Before or after hours, I am available for private appointment with at least 24 hours notice. Seriously, I do not mind walking down to the shop - just ask me if you will be in the area. We will have ever-increasing fantastic sales, as posted on the windows (not advertised), that will knock your socks off. It's a good time to stock up, splurge, or start that new project. There will be added incentives for high volume buyers. And if you want to buy the whole shop....well, let's just say I am listening. Hope to see you in May. Keep your eyes open for a new venture this summer.
