FORMERLY LOST, NOW FOUND ONLINE on SATURDAY, OCTOBER 24th RINGLING BROS CIRCUS PARADE shot in Indianapolis in 1902! This is a big one! Our silent film museum will debut a newly found film from 1902 online - this one is really special - it's only three minutes in length but you get to see a lot for that little time: downtown Indianapolis, a streetcar and hand-carved wagons and other things you'd expect with the greatest show on earth of the past - horses and elephants. The hi...story detective work of figuring out exactly who made the film, when and where it shot will be shared by film historian David Kiehn prior to the actuality debuting on the small screen. At 5:00 pm PT / 8:00 ET on Saturday, October 24th RINGLING BROS CIRCUS PARADE shot in Indianapolis Accompaniment by Frederick Hodges. Followed by a Zoom program: Dan Kamin, Nigel Dreiner, Jason Allin & others will discuss the Circus as an art form and its appearances in silent and talkie films. Also on the webpage, there will also be a link to a document full of frame grabs from the parade with some landmarks pointed out and historical info. More information at www.nilesfilmmuseum.org, on the front page in the middle of the slideshow is an icon that will take you to the October online program. Click on the photos of Baby Peggy, Nosferatu and the Circus Parade to know you are in the right place) and come back on October 24th to be part of the viewing audience! The links will be available on our website shortly before the program commences. Rena Kiehn Niles Essanay Silent Film Museum Fremont, CA, USA
