We are throwing some shade at Nickel Beer today! We have added a 10x20 pop up on the patio to provide some shade in the first warm weather of the year up here. Come enjoy a cold beer in the shade all week long! The tasting room will be open 1-6 pm during the week and until 7 pm on Friday. We just tapped a fresh batch of Volcan IPA and a new keg of the Jalapeno Gold. And we have more new merch in stock - look for pics posting up soon. Cheers, Tom

Memorial Day is a time to honor and remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice while in service of our nation. We must all make this country something worth fighting for. Find a moment to do something to honor those who have given their lives so that we can enjoy the freedoms we have today. The tasting room will be open from 12 -6 pm and there will be plenty of sunshine in the mountains. And we are now open on Tuesdays from 1 - 6 pm.

It is a beautiful to come enjoy the mountians and some great Nickel Beer. Lots of sunshine with temperatures in the mid 70s today. We have some fun collab brews on tap right with our new The Lion and The Bull English Summer ale - brewed with South Park Brewing - perfect for the sunny weather. And on the opposite end of the spectrum is A Paradox of Passions, a barrel aged blend done with Burning Beard that is deep brown in color, rich and full of complex dark fruit flavors like fig and plum. The tasting room will be open fro 11 am to 7 pm today and then Noon to 6 pm tomorrow for the Monday holiday. Look for Pickles, Beer Cheese and Beer Chili from West Coast Smoke and Tap House today on the menu in addition to great beer. We'll see you soon for a tasty Nickel brew. Cheers, Tom

Don't let the coastal May Gray fool you - it is sunny and warm in Julian and will be all weekend! There are no clouds in the sky and temps will be in the mid to high 70s most of the long holiday weekend. Perfect weather to come enjoy the mountains, fresh air and of course great beer! We just tapped a fresh batch of Volcan IPA and yes, our Jalapeno Gold is on tap this weekend for those of you who worry about such things. And we are tapping a keg of our barrel aged collab wi...th Burning Beard - A Paradox of Passions. This 12% abv monster is a blend of Beard's Barrel Aged Imperial Quad and our Respect My Aciditie sour ale. The result is a beer of unfathomable depth filled with complex dark fruit flavors and notes of well aged port. Words really don't do the beer any justice. Please take a moment this weekend to remember what Memorial Day is all about and the men and women of our military who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. We will never forget you. It is the first Tuesday that we have been open since March 10th, 2020. We are now back open 7 days a week! We will be open from 1-6 pm during the week and open until 7 pm on Friday. It is a beautiful day in the mountains- perfect for enjoying our beers on the patio. We have a great selection of hoppy beer including the new Hidden Fortress Double IPA and a new batch of the Blood Sweat and Orange IPA made with fresh local blood oranges. Cheers, Tom

Today is Frankie's (aka Taylor) last day at the tasting room before she moves to Arizona next week. Stop by and wish her well on her new adventure. This afternoon we will be tapping our Habanero Hidden Fortress Double IPA as Taylor has a love for spice. We will be open from 1-6 pm. Cheers, Tom

Happy Mother's Day to all of the moms out there - especially my Stonewall Stout loving mom Ann Nickel! The brewery will be open from 11 am to 6 pm today on this gorgeous Spring day. We have an extraordinary list of IPAs on tap right now - Banner Grade, Larry's Place, Volcan, YPA 2K, Blood Sweat and Orange, Chinook and the new Hidden Fortress Double IPA. And if you don't want hops we also have lots of options including Apple Pie Ale, Jalapeno Gold and C.C. O'Neill's Irish Red. And starting this week the brewery will be back open 7 days a week! We will be open 1-6 pm during the week staying open until 7 pm on Friday. And then 11 am to 7 pm on Saturday and 11 am to 6 pm on Sunday. And we will be open every day of the Memorial Day weekend at the end of the month. Cheers, Tom

It is Tuesday and we are now open 1-6 pm every Tuesday! It is good to have the brewery back open 7 days a week. And it doesn't hurt that the weather is perfect all week long up here. Tomorrow will be Frankie's (aka Taylor) last day at Nickel Beer before her big move to Tucson. Come by and wish her well on her new adventure. We'll be open 1-6 pm tomorrow as well (with more perfect weather) And we will be open expanded hours over the Memorial Day weekend staying open until at least 7 pm Friday, Saturday and Sunday and then opening early at Noon on the Monday holiday. We released our annual Star Wars Day beer this week - Hidden Fortress Double IPA. It is 8.1% and chock full of fruit laden hop flavors and aromas. We took the hops that we use in the Hopster Douchebag - Cascade, Amarillo and Citra, and blended them with the hops we use in the Bruce Banner Grade - Simcoe and Mosaic, and then we threw in a little Strata for good measure in the dry hop. The result is a super drinkable hop bomb. Come enjoy some this weekend. The tasting room will be open until 7 pm tonight and then 11 am to 6 pm tomorrow. We are also open 1-6 pm on Mondays now and we will be open Memorial Day at the end of the month. Cheers, Tom

It is finally warming up in Julian after a few windy days. The sun is shining and temperatures will be in the mid 60s today and then mid 70s all week. Come enjoy the Spring weather and some great beer in the mountains! Today we release The Lion and The Bull -an English Summer ale that we brewed with our friends at South Park Brewing. It was made with a heritage British lager malt that has a unique and subtle honey flavor. The beer is lightly hopped and has just enough fruity esters from the yeast to give it a true English feel. The beer is 5.2% and super refreshing. You can enjoy it at the tasting room and it is also on tap at O'Brien's. in Kearny Mesa. For you spicy beer fans we have a Habanero Double IPA pouring. Nickel Beer will be open until 7 pm today and then 11 am to 6 pm tomorrow. Look for expanded hours next weekend over the Memorial Day weekend - along with perfect weather. Cheers, Tom

The brewery will be open from 1 to 7 pm. We will have limited indoor capacity today per County guidelines. For you spicy beer fans, we have a Habanero version of our Hidden Fortress Double IPA. It is hot but the double IPA stands up to the heat nicely. Down the hill we are dropping beer off at Lamp Post Pizza in Vista and O'Brien's Pub in Kearny Mesa. Cheers, Tom

If you are in San Diego this weekend, join us at O'Brien's in Kearny Mesa where we will be releasing our collaboration with South Park Brewing. It is an English Summer Ale named The Lion and The Bull and the pub will be pouring it on both Draft and Nitrogen. The beer will be tapped on Saturday and will be pouring all weekend.
