"It concerns me, " I told Brando, "that I am incapable of understanding or enduring life--or other people--without imagining them in some sort of play or film t...hat I happen to be stuck in." "You should be concerned," he replied, "but what makes you think you're unique? I don't think most people can face life squarely as it is. That would be grim. We're walking in some sort of fantasy to get by, to get through. The ones who face life dead straight, no color, no light, no shift of reality--they're the crazy ones. Life isn't livable until you distort it to your fantasy. To show up without a fantasy would be worse than showing up without bathing."Marlon Brando to James Grissom.

Al Pacino on acting schools... Of course, you go to acting school, and the best school is the school where you go and do a scene with somebody in front of people. That’s the experience. And the more you can do that, I think the more you can understand that that’s what we do. We act in front of an audience, and how do you do that? That takes a certain amount of commitment. So if you can get into an acting class or school, that’s good. [One] that isn’t too expensive. Something that allows you to participate and be a part of a community, whatever the community is. You see you’re not alone as an actor. https://www.backstage.com//acting-school-advice-al-pacin/

"I feel we all should give what we can when we can. I think it's how the world operates best. I don't regret anything I've given, but I do find it a bit odd--sa...d--that most of the money people have given to causes is to protect people from other people. I added it up one day, and my money has gone mostly to cancer and cruelty. A disease that destroys people and people who destroy other people."--Paul Newman/ Interview with James Grissom/1993 See more
