NSC El Cajon is getting a facelift....thanks to our Maranatha church family.

In a relay race, team members pass on a baton as they finish running their stage of the race. On February 21, 2018, Billy Graham finished running the race, as he was welcomed at the finish line into the arms of Jesus. Many have asked over the years, what’s going to happen when Billy Graham is gone? Who will take his place? The children and grandchildren of Billy are running the course and following in his steps. But the baton is not for Billy’s family only. The baton is for e...very believer who has accepted Jesus Christ as their personal Savior and Lord. We all have a responsibility to share the gospel of Jesus; just the simple message of the love of God who sent His only son to die for the sins of the world. Will there ever be another Billy Graham? No, Billy was one of a kind. But there’s a YOU! And you can be faithful to share the good news to lost souls who without Jesus will spend eternity without Him. Every year we get the opportunity for a fresh start. We all have great plans or ideas about what that might mean. It’s always nice to think about leaving the past behind and refocusing on the future. We want it to be better than the last year. We prioritize our goals and objectives to fulfill our vision and dreams. But God already knows the plans He has for us. I have to remind myself that God is God and I am not. Every day is a day of placing myself on the altar to sacrifice my will and wants to Him. I have been a believer for almost 53 years now, but I have a lot of areas that need to be turned over to Him. Maybe this year I’ll get it". How about you?

Watch out! God’s got some amazing things in store for 2018! Are you in tune with Him? Have you aligned your will with His will? Will you recognize what He is doing or will you selfishly walk in your own way? Look for something new God has done for you today. Look for an opportunity to bless someone because God has blessed you.

God has the roadmap to our lives for 2018. There will be mountains to climb, valleys to walk through; there will be bumps and smooth roads along the way. We don't know what is ahead, but God does. What is uncertain to us is certain to Him. Because Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever we can trust Him for each moment of each day. Welcome 2018!

This morning I heard a song on the radio; it was Frank Sinatra singing Silent Night. Although I do like to listen to him, I didn’t care for his rendition of this song. And then I began to wonder where he is today heaven or hell. So as not to be accused of judging, I’ll refrain from any comments, because I don’t know. But Old Blue Eyes is gone now without any opportunity to change his destination, whatever it was. The question is what about you? Don’t wait and miss your opportunity. After death is the judgment and no opportunity to change your mind. The Bible says, Listen! This is the hour to receive God’s favor; today is the day to be saved! (2 Cor. 6:2b)

I was just folding some laundry and the hardest thing about that was trying to match black and blue socks. Even with the light on it’s hard to distinguish the two colors. But when I took them over by the window for true light from outside, suddenly it became very clear what was what. There are times when it is hard to discern right from wrong, good from bad, because we don’t see the situation in the right light. Maybe we’re listening to someone who is giving his or her opinion, but when weighed against the Word of God, is it really right? Now we have a choice to make. Will our decision match the light coming from the world or the Light of the Word? We can only make the right decision when we place it under the TRUE Light. It’s important to know what God’s Word says so that we can match the colors of our decisions correctly.

"Do not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one anotherand all the more as you see the Day approaching." (Hebrews 10:25) Make the decision today to come to New Seasons El Cajon this Sunday at 8 AM to receive encouragement from the Word & be an encouragement to someone.

So much to pray about, but right now pray regarding the fires in Oregon and the hurricane devastation in Texas.

With the devastating flooding from Hurricane Harvey still ongoing, Gov. Greg Abbott proclaimed Sunday, September 3, a Day of Prayer. It is right and fitting, he wrote in the proclamation, that the people of Texas should join with their fellow residents and with others from across the country and around the world to seek God’s wisdom for ourselves and our leaders and ask for His merciful intervention and healing in this time of crisis. The governor specifically asked for prayers for first responders, public safety officers, and military personnel, healing of individuals, rebuilding of communities and the restoration of the entire region struck by this disaster.
