American Association of Endodontists celebrates the entire month of May as the month of Worth Saving. Also, today, May the 4th is the National Star Wars Day!!! We might look like Darth Vader with our new attires and PPE but we are all Jedi!!!! May the Force be with all of US! As a part of health care system, we are privileged to provide care for those who are in need. During these dire times of COVID-19 pandemic, my team and I at Newport Root Canal treated almost 100 e...mergency dental/endodontics patients. We have been bruised, we had long hours, and we got tired. Although our level of hardship to treat those patients are not remotely close to doctors and nurses in the hospitals providing care for COVID-19 patients, I believe we have played our role to prevent patients from going to hospitals and emergency rooms and add to already overloaded health care system. From the 8-year-old boy who fell and knocked his front teeth out, to the 101 years old sweet grandma who had a dental abscess, to a 35-year-old man who drove 80 miles with severe dental pain to get treated in our office, we did our job and we will continue to do so. Doctors, dentists, nurses, dental assistants, hospital workers, and first responders are the angles and warriors of COVID-19 era. Dear Patients and Referring Dentists: Your safety and well-being are of the utmost importance to Newport Root Canal. As our country and the world continue to deal with the effects of COVID-19, we write to inform you about the American Association of Endodontists (AAE)’s and American Dental Association’s (ADA) newest guidelines and recommendations for seeking dental care. The AAE has recommended limiting non-urgent dental treatment and we intend to do so while remaining avail...able to any patient who seeks emergency care. Please be advised that our hours may change on the basis of demand for our services. We will only be seeing patients who are in need of urgent or emergency care. In addition to following the guidance from the CDC, at Newport Root Canal we have updated our sanitation policies to prevent the spread of the virus. We are disinfecting our offices’ common areas like patient waiting rooms and check-in desks more frequently, limiting interpersonal interactions (social distancing), and we are providing pre-operative mouth rinse with enhanced vigilance. For scheduled patients that are feeling ill or have been in contact with someone that has tested positive for the virus, their appointment will be rescheduled 14 days later. Australia Trip was a huge success. Teaching advanced hands-on course in contemporary apical surgery, over 100 attendees, sharing the floor and the podium with one the giants of Endodontics ( Dr. Mahmoud Torabinejad), teaching alongside my partner in crime Dr. Arin Alexander and the satisfaction of meeting new friends and colleagues.
