Vespa wheelie popping and all around ripper Bentley always found the fun and debauchery that happened with the crew at NSC.

The crew at Newport Ski Company did manage to squeeze out fun in the summer too.

Of course! NSC had their fair share of ski celebs gracing its doorsteps. Sarajevo Olympics Gold and Silver medalists Phil and Steve Mahre..

Swing a hammer - Check Work the front lines fitting boots - Check Knock back adult beverages - Check and check Ski and apres ski - Check Play as hard as you work and visa versa - Check, check and check ... It's been said the greatest leaders, lead by example. Jeff and John were great examples of leaders all of us could respect and admire. No wonder why NSC was so magical. Everyone was having as much fun playing and partying as we did working. Including our owners Jeff and John.

Closing in the summer gave way to bringing in mountain bikes and sail boards making NSC a year around store. In the later years inline skates and skis making room for the growing snowboard industry and the addition of a Newport Ski Company location in Orange on Tustin. By the time snowboards entered NSC, most of the old guard employees moved on giving way to the new guard. These pictures primitive as they are, commemorate the new-schoolers and a handful of old-schoolers during the final chapters of Ski Co's history.

Any of you remember Newport Ski Company's legendary Christmas parties? Share your memories. Never before and never after have I experienced Christmas gatherings that were so much fun where everyone truly enjoyed each other. The staff at NSC not only enjoyed each other but many times partied and did all sorts fun things together. We were friends and extended family.

Hot wax machines and hot wax irons were the biggest danger to ski shops back in the day. Many times the melted wax would get left on over night starting a grease fire which burned many great shops to the ground. Here's an example of how everyone would pitch in and rebuild their stores better then before. BTW: After the store burned down, timers were placed on all hot wax equipment. Smart move.

Let's keep this memory and experience alive and growing for all to enjoy.

For some reason, ski industry friend news appears to gravitate to me. And last night Terry Fisher's daughter, Kaylee mentioned on social media that her dad, Terry "Fish" Fisher had to be placed in a memory care facility for Alzheimer's. Jeff Jones, Eric Tobieson, JVT, Doc Sachen... All a reminder that life is uncertain. God blesses us with only a finite amount of time. Love and hug on those most important in your life. It's incredibly powerful mojo and we never know w...hen it will be the last time we get another opportunity. Life is a blessing from God. What we do with our life is a blessing back to God. Prayers to the Fisher family and Terry.
