PURSUE PEACE Heb:12-4 THE WORLD’S VERSION -- PERIODIC PEACE: When issues are settled favorably, to my(our) liking. A ‘natural’ pursuit e.g., court wins, peace treatise, peace between nations, world peace.... THE LORD'S VERSION -- PERMANENT PEACE: In good, bad or dire situations. A ‘supernatural’ pursuit e.g., plea to the Prince of Peace, requesting a trust in God's justice, a focus on the end of sin's curse. THE PEACE OF CHRIST. Jn 14:27 The Lord's peace is not predicated on the outcome of situations. His is a peace that is tied to the outcome, one we believe by faith, but one we have not yet actualized. A peace that cause one suffer excruciating pain to the point of death by crucifixion without wavering. As the Lord has demonstrated, peace is not absent of pain. Peace can be found in the most painful situations imaginable. In our own individual and collective situations, we're going to need permanent peace. He left us with it. We can have that. If our anger directs us anywhere outside of accessing the peace of God, we merely join the world's version of peace, which will only result in momentary rest, a rest that is not worth dying for.
