The Nevada County Fairgrounds is hiring seasonal maintenance aides. Primary duties include cleaning up and maintaining the Fairgrounds; assisting with routine building maintenance and janitorial duties; operating hand tools, power tools, and small to heavy equipment; performing grounds maintenance, including mowing grass, raking, operating a string trimmer, chipping, removing trash and debris, and performing other landscape related tasks. We’re not sure where to begin because thank you doesn’t seem enough! To Alyssa Mayo, West Coast Equine Sports Therapy and all the volunteers who are responsible for last night’s fundraiser in support of the Nevada County Fairgrounds thank you, thank you, thank you! The event raised an astonishing $20,000 for the Fairgrounds! We are overwhelmed and speechless and so, so appreciative to all those who volunteered, donated, participated and supported the event and auction. What an incredible display of community and of working together towards a common goal. We remain so proud to serve this community and we are so thankful to those who are going above and beyond to show such kindness. Again, thank you!

Due to continued COVID-19 restrictions on mass gatherings, the Nevada County Fairgrounds Board of Directors voted Tuesday evening to cancel the 2020 Country Christmas Faire. The Board made the decision to cancel the event after reviewing the California Department of Public Health's most recent guidelines for gatherings in the state. We will miss our Country Christmas Faire exhibitors and attendees, but we look forward to safely welcoming back all to the Country Christmas Faire in 2021.
Did you purchase delicious cookies from Emily's Catering yet? Emily's has chosen the Nevada County Fairgrounds as its October "Cookies for a Cause" organization, so the more cookies sold, the more that gets donated. There are still a few days left in October to eat lots of cookies while supporting the Fairgrounds. Thanks, Emily, for your generosity and kindness!
The Fairgrounds is excited to partner with the County of Nevada, the schools, and the Friendship Club/NEO on a distance learning and youth hub at the Nevada County Fairgrounds. This is an innovative and exciting project that will support learning and provide a safe and central location for families and students to access high speed internet, said Patrick Eidman, CEO of the Nevada County Fairgrounds. The Fairgrounds Board and staff are so pleased that this agreement with the County will allow us to serve as a hub for distance learning and youth enrichment activities and programming and allows us to reopen our beautiful Fairgrounds for the public to walk and bike.
Fairgrounds are the heart of a community and Fairgrounds across California need your help. Western Fairs Association continues to advocate for Fair Funding, working closely with US Representatives Harder and Panetta on two separate bills intended to support and sustain the Fair Industry in this time of national industry crisis due to the inability to host gatherings. Support your local Fair and these federal bills so we can gather again when the time is right. We are so excited to open the Fairgrounds again to walkers beginning tomorrow (Wednesday). The grounds will be open from 8 am to 4 pm Monday - Friday. Walkers should go through Gate 1 to enter the grounds (all other gates will remain closed), a waiver should be completed at the gate, and following social distancing protocol is required. The Youth Hub/Distance Learning Center at Main Street Center also opens tomorrow. We've missed our community and are excited to welcome them back! A big thank you to the County of Nevada for making this all happen.
While we had hoped to once again open the grounds tomorrow (Monday) to walkers, due to PSPS at the Fairgrounds and forecasted high winds, we will remain closed until the power is back on and it is safe to utilize the Fairgrounds. We’ll keep you posted as soon as we are able to open this week. Thank you for your patience and know we are excited to welcome our community back as soon as we can!
