This week’s Tip Tuesday. We are giving out three tips on credit. 1. Free credit report. Did you know you can pull a free credit report once a year at annualcreditreport.com? Sites like Credit Karma measures your credit score in the last 45 days. In mortgage, we use FICO scores, which use data from the past 120 days. 2. Looking to improve credit? Make sure you have 3 credit cards from the big banks with a healthy credit limit. Our rule of thumb is to keep each credit card ...(not aggregate) to a 30% utilization ratio. There’s no need to carry a balance to the next month to have good credit. 3. Avoid these Don’t be late on your payments. Being 30 days late can lower your score by 60-70 points. Check your credit to ensure you’re free of collections, which may eventually be turned into charge offs. And lastly, avoid getting store credit cards.
