**MEMBER SPOTLIGHT** The first half of 2020 much of our member, Kim Edwards, time was spent helping a friend through a serious health crisis. She considers their recovery miraculous and inspirational. As things settled a bit, Kim renewed her passion for cooking, baking, and being creative by trying new recipes and reinvigorating old family ones. An interesting thing she learned was how to make limoncello and two other variations, arancello and limecello, to add to her cockta...il repertoire, using ingredients from various friends’ generous fruit tree offerings. About 8 months into the pandemic, and after her HR consulting work had slowed down, Kim was offered a full-time position as Senior VP, People Ops for a biotech start-up in Marina Del Rey refocusing her energy into setting up the new company. She is looking forward to traveling to see her family and taking a much needed vacation in the near future. **MEMBER SPOTLIGHT** Married more than 48 years to her college sweetheart, our member, Adele Thurnher, has been putting her Masters degree in Economics and vast business experience to good use attending Zoom Economic Conferences as a long time member of NABE, The National Association of Business Economists, including their International Symposium during Covid. Playing piano since grammar school, she has been keeping busy with old & new songs by The Beatles and John Legend. N...ew hobbies that she has enjoyed are doing puzzles and spicing things up by trying new recipes for dinner & dessert! As we journey to a "New Normal Adele is looking forward to visiting her son Greg in San Diego during the summer, the birth of their first grandchild in San Francisco during October and playing pickle ball in Manhattan Beach with her NWC friends! **MEMBER SPOTLIGHT** A teacher and school administrator was what our member, Karen Darling, did for 38 years prior to retiring 10 years ago. She has two beautiful grandchildren, from her two sons, that Karen loves spending time babysitting when she can. Several times a year, she goes to Catalina, Las Vegas and spends time in Idaho fly fishing. During this past year, Karen has focused on other activities like getting in her beach walk or bike ride, gardening, cooking, sewing, reading, painting or just watching a movie. She has kept in contact with friends on Zoom and has even joined the Beach Cities Brain study on facebook to learn more about aging and eating better. Karen feels that the NWC club is a great asset to this community and giving back to the education of our children is important.

Socktober was such a success! We collected over 800 pairs of socks for the homeless which were distributed through Pauly's Project. They were so appreciative. Your generosity is outstanding!
