Did you know that part of that biannual dental exam involves evaluating your soft tissues (gums, tongue, palate, cheeks, etc.) for lesions or unusual changes to the tissues? Some x-rays can show bony lesions in the jaw that may require further evaluation. A referral is then made to an oral surgeon. Dr. Nelson will also evaluate the lesion and perform a biopsy, when indicated. Please call your dentist if you notice changes in your mouth, it could save your life!
