UPDATE: Tue, 20 Oct., 1608 PST The pilot involved in today's mishap has been released from the medical facility following a thorough examination. The Navy is continuing its investigation in cooperation with local authorities. For the safety of the public and to allow for a complete investigation, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has issued an Emergency Closure Order surrounding the crash site. Tue, 20 Oct., 1227 PST... An F/A-18E Super Hornet from Naval Air Station Lemoore experienced a mishap during a routine training flight in the Superior Valley, just south of Naval Air Weapons Station China Lake. The pilot ejected safely and was taken to a local medical facility for examination. The U.S. Navy is cooperating fully with local authorities. More information will be released as it becomes available. See more

We have an update from the NEX regarding Starbucks' recent closure: Before Starbucks was able to turn off their mobile order capability, it appears that we had some customers place mobile orders after the closure. For refunds, customers can either call the Customer Contact Center at 1-800-782-7282 or come in tomorrow after 7a.m. and the local Starbucks team will assist.

NAS Lemoore had the pleasure of hosting Vice Adm. Kenny Whitesell, Commander, Naval Air Forces/Commander, Naval Air Forces, U.S. Pacific Fleet, on his first visit to the installation since assuming command on Oct. 2. Among the various locations that the Admiral visited, he had the opportunity to witness first-hand the efforts of everyone at the Naval Aviation Maintenance Center of Excellence (NAMCE) Lemoore facility. There the visit culminated with an exchange of mutual coin presentations with Cmdr. Michael Windom, NAMCE Lemoore OIC. The team at NAMCE Lemoore assesses, preserves and builds long-term down aircraft playing a major role in giving fleet squadrons the mission-capable aircraft they need. Additionally, NAMCE conducts maintenance resets of all NAS Lemoore strike/fighter aircraft in its inventory.

Kings County native Mr. Dell Griffith, from NAS Lemoore Ground Electronics is recognized as NAS Lemoore’s Rock of Lemoore. This recognition honors someone who has been at NAS Lemoore for a considerable amount of time and has made an impact on many levels. Mr. Griffith started working at NAS Lemoore in June 1983. By the time he retires this Thursday, Dell will have been with us for more than 37 years. He has been instrumental in ensuring our controllers and aircrew have the most reliable communication to effectively and safety conduct operations on Ops Side. We will miss you Dell and we thank you for your dedicated and honorable service. Bravo Zulu Dell!

Being that we are in the Holiday Season, and coupled with a yearning desire for anything inspirational during COVID, we would like to take a moment and share a story that encompasses the kindness, compassion and solidarity that makes us proud to belong to the NAS Lemoore family. Earlier today at the Commissary, Ms. Kendra was shopping when she experienced a medical emergency. In her own words she describes what happened: "I’m not sure if he’s on this page or not but... To th...e gentleman who stayed with me while I was desperately trying to bring my low low blood sugar back up, to make sure that I was okay! Thank you from the bottom of my heart. You could tell something was not okay with me and when I told you that I’m a severe diabetic and my blood sugar just dropped. You talked with me until I stoppped shaking and could talk normal again. 10 people must have walked passed me as I was trying to drink a sugary drink and eat a bunch of Swedish fish as fast as I could and I was shaking like a Polaroid picture lol! However, You stopped and asked if I was okay, which was met with me bursting into tears. You stated you were gonna stay and chat with me until I got to feeling better. You’re an angel and such a true gentleman. I know my husband would be very thankful that you stopped to make sure I was okay. Thank you again sir for helping to ensure I was okay. I appreciate more than you could ever know." Turns out that the gentleman's name is Dave and he is a Navy veteran. Dave, if you are listening, we thank you for what you did. Bravo Zulu sir!

You may recall a video we release back in May pertaining to a highly challenging attempted SAR rescue. Today we presented two members of that crew with Air Medal Awards. Please join us once more in congratulating LT Sophia Recca and HM2 (NAC/AW/SW/IW) Tyler Hodge. We will present the remaining two crew members their awards at a later date as they were unable to attend today's presentation. Orginal post on this development below (23 MAY 20): On Friday, 15 May 2020, NAS Lem...oore SAR was called to assist in the rescue of a hiker near Three Rivers, CA. By all accounts, this SAR crew demonstrated an exceptionally superior effort in partnership with local civilian authorities who initiated the rescue. As the opportunity to venture off this weekend is now possible, of course within the prescribed limits, do so safely. Bravo Zulu to the Wrangler's SAR crew and maintainers. See more

Kentucky native, Fed Fire & Emergency Services, Chief James Durr, is recognized as NAS Lemoore’s Rock of Lemoore. This recognition honors someone who has been at NAS Lemoore for a considerable amount of time and has made an impact on many levels. Chief Durr is an Air Force veteran who transitioned to Fed Fire and has been with us for 22 years. Naturally and as part of his duties he has been witness to many occurrences and was instrumental in saving many lives. He will soon be retiring after more than 40 years as a firefighter and please join us in thanking him for his service. Bravo Zulu Chief Durr.

NAS Lemoore Post 2 (Housing Gate) has returned to normal operation.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held for NAS Lemoore's new "Fuel Farm" system on Nov 2.The above-ground fuel system replaced an antiquated underground fuel system that provided fuel from 11 decaying fuel tanks. The project, named P-1508, is compliant with federal, state and DoD regulations and called for the construction and replacement of the jet-fuel storage complex consisting of fuel piping to 20 existing hot fuel outlets, fuel transfer piping, a pump-house, and a 3,500 square-foot fuel operations support facility. Existing fuel truck loading and unloading stations were also modified in addition to the installation of a new 25,000 gallon surge tank.

As the US Navy's premier master jet base, sometimes we can fly sideways (also known as the knife edge pass).

This past Friday evening, NASL CYP hosted their Fall Festival. Check out the hard work that went into preparing for this event culminating with a wondrous joy for those imaginative little minds who attended. Don't forget tomorrow's MRW Halloween Parade through base housing. Details pinned above.

Congratulations AM3 James Ledford! You were the first to answer correctly. This is a photo of AWS2 Dylan McCallum conducting hoist recovery training in the Sierra National Forrest on Oct. 27. This type of training enables our SAR crews to increase their proficiency and also increases their ability to tackle complex rescues. The photo was taken by AWS2 Peter Prosser.
