Dear Naples Residents, Due to a magnitude 8.3 earthquake near the coast of central Chile the ports of Los Angeles / Long Beach have been issued a Tsunami Advisory by the National Weather Service. This Advisory means that strong currents or waves may create significant issues for people and vessels on the ocean or Marinas. Expected arrival time in Long Beach is 4:47 a.m.(Thursday morning). Marine Safety will staff Rescue Boats and units during this period to advise citizens a...way from beaches and rock jetties. Rescue Boats will be in service to respond to emergencies, and for potential issues in our Marinas due to unpredictable currents. Our local library is open today from 12 to 4! It's the first time Bay Shore Library has been open on a Sunday in more than 10 years, thanks to a pilot program from Councilwoman Suzie Price. For today's Sunday opening party, there will be ocean themed storytime, crafts, and the Mobile Aquarium of the Pacific! Come out and support our local library, and show your appreciation for Sunday hours!

What do you think of the Trees in the Bay? Did you know that this tradition began in 1949 when resident Don May put a live Christmas tree on a float and set it in Alamitos Bay. In 1953 the first of the now familiar triangular wooden structures was used instead of a live tree.
