Napa Valley Bike Tours 01.10.2020

The outpouring of love and concern for Napa Valley continues to warm our hearts. The love in the air really is thicker than the smoke. As devastating as the losses have been and our hearts ache for those in our community who have been directly impacted we want to provide some measure of balance to the highlight reel of devastation on the news. The Glass Fire has burned a horseshoe-shaped footprint, cupping the northern part of Napa Valley, mainly in the hillsides su...rrounding the towns Calistoga and St. Helena. At present, the towns of Calistoga and St. Helena and much of the valley floor have remained safe and mostly untouched by the fire, though these towns remain under varying levels of evacuation order/warnings out of an abundance of caution. The rest of the valley, from Rutherford south - including Oakville, Yountville, Napa and the Carneros region - are well away from the threat of the current fire. As soon as the smoke clears - and there’s hope in the forecast for that happening over the course of the coming week - we are optimistic you will see wineries reopening and eager to welcome visitors back to the valley. The Napa Valley visitors bureau is currently advising visitors to keep tourism plans south of Rutherford and to reconfirm your plans directly with any hotels, wineries or restaurants you plan to visit. We want you to know that your visit to Napa Valley in the wake of this unfortunate event is more meaningful than ever and you will be welcomed with the warmest hospitality at every turn. Particularly in this year when COVID presented its own challenges, many of the people directly impacted by the fire work in our hospitality industry - second only to our wine industry and accounting for 16,000 jobs - and are depending on your visit as they seek to return to a sense of normalcy and stability. If a visit in the near-term is not possible, there are other ways to lend your support! Your donation to Napa Valley Community Foundation helps provide immediate response grants for safety net services such as legal and housing assistance as well as cash assistance to homeowners and renters affected by the fires. Buying wine from your favorite Napa Valley wineries is also a big help, so drink up and be quick about replenishing those empty spots on your wine rack! Small tour outfitters such as us unfortunately don’t have a lot of angles to play in events such as this. But if you can foresee a future visit to Napa that might include some time pedaling with us, a Gift Card purchase now is a meaningful gesture that also sends a hopeful signal to our team that you’ve set an intention to come back. Whether it’s next week, next month or next year, we look forward to welcoming you back to Napa Valley! See more
