In case you heard a loud explosion in the area of Salvation Army (Franklin/Division) it was a propane tank inside of this box van. There is no ongoing hazard to the surrounding area. You might also have heard the CHP Helicopter which assisted transporting the patient who suffered injuries from the explosion.

We are fortunate here in Napa County to have so many resources available to us when needed. One of those resources is the Search and Rescue Team (SAR). The search and rescue team is under the direction of the Napa County Sheriff’s Office and has approximately 45 volunteers. ***UPDATE****subject was located by search and Rescue. Thank you. Please be on the lookout for Benjamin Rowton. Benjamin is 29 years old, approximately 6’8 and 160lbs. He is autistic and non verbal. He was last seen in the area of Sierra Ave and Willis Drive wearing black sweatpants, black t-shirt and was not wearing shoes. Benjamin also now has a beard. Please call 9-1-1 if you see him.

In the early hours of this morning, NPD graveyard officers were out and about keeping a watchful eye. One of our officers spotted a stolen Toyota Tacoma pickup that has been responsible for some recent thefts in our city. After safely taking the driver into custody in the 2400 block of Old Sonoma Rd, Officers located several items of stolen property inside of the truck. Officers are working diligently to identity the owners of all this property to return it. Right Place at the Right Time Last night an observant officer saw fire coming from a care facility that housed numerous elderly adults. NPD Officers responded and were able to quickly and safely rescue the elderly residents from the smoke-filled building. Fire personnel responded shortly after and took over the scene. Thanks to the alertness of the officer a potential disaster was avoided. En el lugar correcto en el momento correcto ... Anoche, un oficial observó fuego saliendo de un centro de cuidados donde vivían varios adultos mayores. Los oficiales de el departamento de policía de Napa respondieron y pudieron rescatar de manera rápida y segura a los residentes ancianos del edificio lleno de humo. El personal de bomberos respondió poco después y se hizo cargo de la escena. Gracias al estado de alerta del oficial se evitó un posible desastre.
