Properly disposing of #fireplace ashes can help prevent a fire emergency this winter. Put ashes in a metal container with a lid and place the container outside at least 10 feet from your home. Your actions can keep you and your family fire safe!

#FireCanHappenAnywhere - Make sure you have working smoke alarms throughout your home and test them monthly. LISTEN for the sound of a smoke alarm. When a smoke alarm sounds, get outside and stay outside! #CALFIRE #CALFIRELNU

Major injury crash today on Hwy 29 outside of Calistoga, in the Robert Louis Stevenson Park area. Two passenger vehicles collided head on with patients trapped and needing extrication. Two patients transported by air ambulance helicopters, one transported by ground ambulance with moderate injuries and unfortunately one passenger succumbed to their sustained injuries. This area of highway 29 is steep mountainous terrain driving. Allow extra time when traveling and provide a safe following distance. This holiday season is forecasting significant rains, practice good safety and enjoy! #napacountyfire #calfirelnu #calistogacityfire #upvalleynorthenders #CoreyEdwards-NapaValley,CA-Fire&PoliceEmergencyInfo.(unofficial)

Earlier today the Behrens family unexpectedly dropped off the Deer Park sign at Volunteer Station 21 to Deer Park Fire Chief Lutz. During the Glass Incident the sign was saved from burning completely by a community member (whom we haven't received permission to release his/her name yet) and had the Behrens family return it today. The sign was returned in 2 parts with some fire damage but will be restored and mounted where it belongs. Thank you to the community member for saving the sign and the Behrens family for dropping it off. #DeerParkStrong #LNU #glassfire #napafirewise #station21

Lake Berryessa had it’s 3rd drowning for 2020 earlier this week. These are PREVENTABLE unnecessary deaths! Please practice good water safety with the following tips: 1) DON’T SWIM ALONE - You should always have at least one person with you while swimming in open water. 2) ABSTAIN FROM ALCOHOL/DRUGS - Alcohol use is involved in up to 70% of deaths associated with water recreation. If you're not sober, stay out of the water.... 3) SWIM PARALLEL TO THE SHORE - Rather than swimming straight out into the middle of the lake, consider swimming parallel to the shore. This can help you avoid boat traffic and allow you to stay in warmer, shallower water. 4) BE AWARE OF POTENTIAL DANGER Read and respect all signs. Be careful of sudden drop-offs, strong currents or other potential dangers. Even if the water is considered clean, don’t drink it! 5) ENTER WATER CAREFULLY - Look to see if there are sharp or slippery rocks, and don’t blindly jump off a dock without checking the depth of the water. 6) NEVER ASSUME YOU’RE VISIBLE Watch for motorboats, jet skis and other lake users. Never assume that they can see you. 7) WEAR A LIFE JACKET - They are free at Oak Shores! #Napa County Fire #CALFIRE/LNU #Lake Berryessa #life jackets save lives
