Q&A Monday! Q: Why does my pet just stare at me? A: We all love to think that when our pets can’t stop staring at us, that it is coming from a place of undying devotion and love. Not to burst your bubble, but more likely than not, your pet is actually looking at you in this way for one of two reasons. Either they really want something from you, or they are trying to figure out what you want from them. ... Wanting something from you often times means more than just wanting a pet on the head. It’s best to get them to communicate with you by encouraging them to show you or lead you to the goal. It might be them wanting something as simple as food, or a treat, or it can mean they need to get out of the house for a walk, or just want a little one on one play. Remember being attentive to your pet is key to good communication. But if they are trying to figure out what you want from them, you could be in training, or you might’ve said something your pet doesn’t understand, and now they are working hard to try to find the meaning in your expression and actions following. Non the less don’t let this stress you out. Again, this comes down to understanding how you and your pet communicate with one another. It is normal for your pet to do plenty of things that confuse us, but we hope that we can help you get closer with your pet, and provide the best care possible for your furry best friend.
