It has been too long since I last posted. I seem to have trouble being more diligent about posting. I recently finished a commission and the new owner sent me a photo of her new rug in her guest house. I should ask her to photograph the other side in that setting. The rug's title is Bauhaus Collection: Laszlo Maholy-Nagy II. It is my adaptation of a painting by Maholy-Nagy.

My Covid-19 sale is ongoing until at least the end of 2020. Last week I posted a photo of the rug, Squares Dancing. Here is the one featured this week. All rugs in my available inventory are included in the 20% off sale, as stated in last week’s post. This week’s pictured rug is a runner, titled Pub Runner, so named because the main colors are Black and Tan, as in a pub order in the U.K. The size is 31 wide x 79 long. The original price is $2,100.00. The sale price is $1,680.00. You are seeing both sides. With all of my rugs, both sides are usable.

Because of the Covid-19 situation and resulting cancelation of many juried art and craft shows where I usually sell my rugs, I am offering rugs in my inventory at a 20% reduction in price. I have been busy weaving towels in preparation for the weaving class I have coming up at the Ink People Center for the Arts weaving studio in Eureka, California. The class starts on Monday, February 24, and there are still some open spaces. We will meet Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6:00 to 9:00 for four weeks. If towels aren’t your thing, you could weave a table runner, napkins, or placemats, using the same weave structures. I dug into my old files and found weaving sam...ples of towels, pictured here. The possibilities are almost endless. The first photo is of a sample with a border of Xs and Os. The second photo is of a multi- color towel. The third photo is of a less flamboyantly colored towel. If you have never woven before, you can still join the class and weave a scarf. Scarves are a very good beginning project. In the spirit of holiday giving, I am offering this rug at a 40% off discount. When I wove it in 2008, I was experimenting with angles and color. The colors are vibrant and would add a big dash of color to just the right setting. The title of the rug is "Stairway to Heaven". The size is 44 inches wide by 81" long, and the price I am offering it for is $1,860.00 (originally $3,100.00) plus $158.00 sales tax if in California. Shipping is included in the price. If you are local to Humboldt County in northern California, I will deliver it free of charge.

It is finished! This afternoon I will deliver it to the people who commissioned it. I can’t decide which side I prefer. I have not yet thought of a good title, but maybe the new owners will have an idea. The design inspiration came from an old piece of linoleum we found in a dental cabinet that used to be in my father’s basement workshop in Minnesota. The cabinet originally belonged to either my father’s high school friend or to one of my two uncles who were dentists. The inspiration for the colors was a quilt that the people who commissioned the rug have. The piece of linoleum holds ideas for more rug designs.
