This local small business really appreciates it especially during this time of Covid! #staylocal #supportlocal #temeculaunited #temecula We were expecting to be opened way sooner than tamale season however God had a different plan so we had to go with it and coming into this restaurant with so many previous clients and all the new ones and not being up at 100% with Covid, deficiencies in the supplies and products, prices changing daily, indoor dining, NO indoor dining, and everything else it makes it challenging to feed everyone and not run out at times due to supply and demands, especially for those who are wanting in for catering and tamales at the last minute when our books have been full since October. TRUST ME IF I CAN ACCOMMODATE I DO! I always say we have no machines, I am the machine so we just embrace it and go with flow of doing our BEST to serve everyone. The challenge is going from strictly catering to now having a RESTAURANT WITH A FULL DAILY MENU and being an IN HOUSE ARTISAN BAKERY where everything we make is made IN HOUSE so we will be adapting changes gracefully to things that work for us and things that Dont. Culturally, I do not think you can ever separate food and family. There are so many of my Nana and my Moms dishes that have nostalgic attachment. Reminding me of a time, a special place, and of my loved ones especially my Mom and Dad It has been over 14 years (I stopped counting) but every time I cook I can smell the rich fragrances of my mother’s cooking like her Green Chile Pork Stew or fresh pot of Beans de la Hoya with fresh handmade tortillas. It was a BIG deal w...hen my Mom cooked it made everyone happy. So often her meals required waking up the day before to prepare because her meals were so time consuming. She would tell me my Nana would wake up at 4am before the break of sunrise just to start cooking. My Mom would take my Nana to the local market to buy the freshest ingredients. She was very methodical an artisan at heart in everything she made. She taught my mother how to cure meats, prepare the chiles, and how to make everything by hand. My Nana’s and my Mother’s cooking was truly a work of art and all love, passed down to my Mother to me especially after my Daddy died. I can remember early memories of being barely 4 years old cooking with my Mom for my Daddy in the kitchen. My cookbooks are exactly that~made with love with popular, authentic recipes for you to enjoy and start traditions in your family, just like we did.
