A new CDC report found that Americans are experiencing more coronavirus-related mental health issues than people in other countries. The number of Americans rep...orting anxiety symptoms are three times the numbers at this time last year. Taking on the challenge of mental health conditions and erasing the stigma around mental illness requires all of us. Mental health is not just for some, mental health is for all. #Vote4MentalHealth

During Mental Illness Awareness Week (#MIAW), let's put a little perspective on equity of mental health care compared to physical health care. Never in my lifetime (1/2 a century), or my parents' (3/4 a century), or my grandparents' (one full century) has there ever been this much attention placed on one illness as there has been for COVID-19. NEVER. Mental illness is something that has been around for centuries, and I cannot recall there ever being anywhere near the attentio...n COVID-19 has received placed on any illness, let alone on mental illness. There have been comparisons made of COVID-19 to the pandemic of 1908, where everyone was required to wear masks. This was at a time before there were antibiotics and modern medicine. We can hardly compare the two. It's like comparing apples and oranges. I HOPE (#ihope4mh)... we will soon be able to stop wearing masks and have our freedoms returned to us.
