Happy Friday recovery friends and family! We are so thrilled to talk about this amazing employee we have by the name of Amanda O! She’s has been a fabulous addition to the MTR family and we wanted to brag a little about her and share her story with you! Here’s a portion of her story in her own words.... My name is Amanda and I am a grateful recovering addict. My sobriety date is 6/24/2013. I battled my drug addiction for 17 years. I battled with it long before my family eve...r knew I was an addict, I hid it from everyone. By the end of my using I did not care who knew, I was strung out, homeless and going in and out of jail. I was broken spiritually, mentally and physically. I can remember the last time the I was arrested, I was relieved. I was so tired of living the way that I had been living and I knew the only way I was going to stop was going to jail or death. I remember sitting in court, at my Romero hearing, in front of the same judge I had sat in front of so many times before. I had already accepted that I was going to be sent to prison. That judge looked at me and said, I see something in you that you don’t see in yourself, you gave up on yourself a long time ago, but I will not give up on you. I needed to hear that someone believed in me, even if it was a judge. In that moment EVERYTHING changed. She did not send me to prison, she ordered me to complete substance abuse treatment program. I committed to the program. I learned how to stay clean. I worked on liking myself. I got a job. Slowly my life got better. I decided to go back to school and I EXCELLED! I focused on Psychology and Alcohol and Drug Studies. I graduated from college in 2018. I began to study for my state test, and I became state certified as a CADC counselor in 2019. Recovery has given me a life that I could have never imagined, a second chance at a first-class life. This year my husband and I decided to move to Fresno. It was difficult leaving San Jose, the city we were both born and raised in, where our family and support group was. We bought a house, in 7 years of sobriety, I went from being homeless to being a homeowner. Crazy. My Time was the first place I applied to while I was still working in San Jose. Scotty reached out to me, he and I talked on the phone almost daily until I moved, he made me feel comfortable and made my transition to Fresno seamless. I could not have landed in a better place. My Time and the people that work here are pure MAGIC and once you walk through the doors you become part of their family. We love you Amanda! You’re a rockstar!

We would like to take a moment to congratulate our owner Scotty Sample on 6 years of sobriety! You’ve helped so many people and we are all so appreciative of all your hard work and dedication! Here’s a little bit about Scotty’s journey in his own words! 6 YEARS ago I was in a dark place, really only me and God know the true pain I felt inside. My family was done watching me kill myself and I wasn’t sure if I really wanted to live or even could. I had been to 12 rehabs and e...veryone told me the statistics of me getting clean were slim. I was forced into submission by my addiction, I’m so glad my last program didn’t give up on me. It was in that last detox I prayed to a God that I didn’t know for hours on end to help me and give me strength to live. I’m so glad God works in miracles and not statistics. I’m so grateful that a God I didn’t know gave someone like me a chance to fight and chase a life better than I could of ever imagined or prayed for. In 6 years I’ve been blessed with my family back, my own beautiful family, a purpose and passion. One day at a time I’m blessed. Thank you Scotty for all you do!

Today we would like to recognize Jessica M. Wilcox who is usually our staff member behind these posts. Jessica will be 2 years sober tomorrow and works in admissions. She is one of the first people to speak to potential clients considering treatment. You can also hear her on the radio every morning. Here is her story! My name is Jessica and I’m an alcoholic. My sobriety date is 7/11/2018. I originally got sober in July of 2008 and stayed sober for 7 years. I started struggli...ng with whether I was a real alcoholic at 5 and half years sober. I was questioning every thing. I didn’t relate to the book anymore, didn’t relate to people in meetings and just didn’t feel like I belonged. I talked about my thoughts with my sponsor, my family and my friends and shortly after I hit 7 years, I drank. I was out for 3 years and in my last year of my drinking, I hit a total mental and spiritual bankruptcy. I checked into a local detox drunk on 7/10/2018. The next morning I felt awful, but I jumped right into the book and got down to business. Knowing now that I’m a real alcoholic means I can help another, which is what this program is all about. I was lucky enough to interview for the Admissions Coordinator position with My Time Recovery in March and was offered the job! I’m very blessed to work for Scotty and Jamie and look forward to growing with MTR, as well as in my recovery! See more

Happy Friday recovery friends and fam! We love bragging about our awesome staff here at My Time Recovery and this Friday will be no different! We would love you to meet Landon B! Here's a little bit about him in his own words..... "In early 2018 I was given an opportunity through a scholarship from the Herren Project to attend treatment in Delray, FL. At this point in my addiction I was struggling with all aspects of life, from everything to maintaining consistent employment ...to failing as a father and as a son. Not to mention the crushing depression and misery that comes from daily drug/alcohol use. Luckily, I agreed to go to Florida and entered into the Immersion Treatment Center which was one of the best decisions I have ever made in my life. I remained in treatment for 4 months discovering sobriety, but I also found myself, and my Higher Power. Later that same year the treatment center I once attended took a chance on me and offered me a job as a Behavioral Heath Technician. While there, I was educated and worked in all levels of care with multiple positions from Detox to OP. In early 2020, after almost 2 years clean and sober, I decided it was time to move back home to Fresno where my son and family await. I reached out to Scotty Sample inquiring about a job here at My Time and to my satisfaction he offered me a position. Within a month, I was back in Fresno with my son and family working at My Time Recovery! I have worked here at MTR for the past 6 months having multiple positions. Currently, I am the counselor for all of outpatient as well as the Alumni Coordinator. I'm also working to obtain my state certification and become a CADC counselor! Working at My Time has been a great experience. The energy, love and compassion are something I am very proud to be a part of!" We appreciate all you do Landon and thank you for your hard work!

Big S/O to Adventure Steve who was one of our first clients to graduate MTR. He’s now an amazing detox tech and running the adventure therapy program at the inpatient facility. We love you Adventure Steve Witter !! Life is GREAT today! It wasn’t always like that. 2 years ago everyday was dark, depressing and it felt like there was no way out. After multiple treatment centers and failed attempts to get sober, I landed in the psych ward in San Jose after trying to kill mysel...f. Wile I was in there I got a hold of scotty and took that leap of faith. After completing treatment at my time and taking some suggestions, I live happy and free today! I am currently in school and on track to becoming a LVN. I got a podcast SickerThanMost which shares other people’s stories in addiction&recovery. A steady job as a detox tech in the same facility that saved my life and now I do what I love on a daily basis... fish, hang with friends and help others. Life if GREAT! See more

Happy Thursday recovery friends and family! I would love to introduce you to our employee of the month for May! Her name is Bri and she's a total rock star! Here's a little bit about Bri, in her own words! "Hi there! My name is Bri and I work at My Time Recovery as a certified substance abuse counselor. I've been a part of the My Time family for about a year now but I've been working as a counselor for the past 8 years. I couldn't imagine doing anything else. This is more th...an a career for me, it's my passion. Thanks to Loveline and Dr. Drew Pinsky, I knew I wanted to work in the addiction recovery field since I was in Junior High and here I am! But addiction has been a part of my story since I was born and I'm far from your typical "normy." I come from a family that struggles with the disease of addiction and despite how much I love them or pleaded and begged for their own sobriety, they have yet to choose the path of recovery. I remember thinking to myself, "You're not enough for them to get sober." I grew up resentful and broken over this because I did not understand that addiction is a disease. So I became addicted to living in a shell of anger and anxiety and a master of ignoring my feelings and hiding myself behind a mask. Thanks to my grandmother's support and persistence, and a bit of consequences, I legally emancipated myself at the age of 15, and since then, I've actively sought help for my trauma and my issues with anger, anxiety, and codependency. I've had plenty of successes and failures throughout the process but I've ultimately accepted the fact that I did not cause their disease, I could not control their disease, nor could I cure it. I accepted that I was powerless and my life had become unmanageable. I had to learn the hard way that I can only control myself and so I chose to do just that. I went straight to college and began this beautiful journey of helping others. The journey that got me to where I am today has been rough, and I still struggle to this day, but I have committed myself to supporting those who have made the choice to recover from the disease of addiction and I love waking up every day to do just that!" You're amazing Bri and we are so lucky to have you on staff at My Time Recovery! <3

Happy Friday recovery friends and fam! We’ve been dedicating our Friday posts to our amazing team members and this week we would love to introduce you to Linda P! She’s a total rockstar and we absolutely love having her on staff! Here’s a little bit about Linda, in her own words.... I am an addict name Linda. I had been struggling with addiction for 26 years. I lived the street life style and ran the streets lost. I became everything I hated. Relapse is part of my story. At ...the age of 21 I got clean to get my daughter back. I was clean for 4 years then relapse due to not fully surrendering to the program. I stayed loaded for many years after that because I suffered a huge loss. Finally, I was sick and tired of being sick and tired. I had lost everything and left my kids behind my disease. God gave me my clean date 3/7/16 I’ve been clean for 4 years now. I’ve completely surrendered and put God first and work a 12 step program. Scottys wife Haley Sample, my friend, came to me and said my husband is opening up My Time Recovery and I think you would be perfect for the job. Since My Time opened the detox house on May 1st I’ve been working there since day 1. I’ve been with MTR for 2 years now. I’m a detox/counselor at the detox house. I found my passion and love to work with addicts like myself. Giving back what was freely given to me. I have a medical assistant AS degree and education in running groups. I love who I work with and I’m grateful to be apart of the My Time Recovery team! I’m super grateful for Scotty and the staff that believed in me. Most of all I’m grateful for my clients! You guys are the best and the reason why I do what I do! Thank you My Time Recovery, don’t know where I’d be with you all! We are grateful for you as well Linda and all you do for us!

Happy Friday recovery friends and fam! We are very excited to introduce you to our April employee of the month, Mr. Sean C! We are so incredibly lucky to have you on staff and are very proud of all you've accomplished! Here is a little bit about Sean in his own words "I got sober after battling with addiction for over 20 years. I’ve been state raised since I was 5 years old and I’ve done 10 years in prison just to scratch the surface of my story. I even shot up dope in the al...ly behind My Time. My breaking point was when I got sent back to jail and was offered a program called Teen Challenge. My 2nd day there I finally surrendered to the process and allowed God to break me of my selfish and self centeredness. I graduated that program after doing 1 year there and met Scotty through a recovery summit at New Covenant church. They had a now hiring sign for support drivers and I called him a couple of weeks after graduating my program. I worked my way up to Case Manager and I also run groups throughout the week. It has been an amazing experience working for a company that has the heartbeat of the clients in mind. My sobriety date is 6/11/17 next month I’ll have 3 years by the grace of God." Thank you for all you do Sean!

Happy Friday recovery friends and fam! We just love to brag about our amazing employees and this week we’re happy to introduce you to our amazing and hard working Intake Coordinator, Gavin K! Here’s a little bit about his road to recovery in his own words.... My name is Gavin and I’m an addict. My sobriety date is 1/11/2019. First time I ever had a drink of alcohol I was 15 years old and as soon as that buzz kicked in, all of my problems were gone. I loved to party! One wee...k before I turned 16, I was in a car accident with 4 of my friends, I was ejected from a car going 90 mph and my friend Donovan died. I broke 25 bones and was in a coma for 2 weeks. OxyContin was my life after that. When I was 18 I got a settlement of $100,000 dollars and blew all of that on drugs in a year. OxyContin turned into heroin when I was 20 years old, my family kicked me out and all of my friends wanted nothing to do with me so I was homeless in my car for 2 months. I was going to work and getting high every day, and I was sleeping in my car behind our work building every night. I didn’t see a future life on heroin, but I didn’t see a life off of it either, all I know is I didn’t want what I had at that moment anymore. I went to rehab when I was 23 and got clean. I was 7 months sober when I met a beautiful girl and started going to school again. When I was 3 years sober I was hired at My Time Recovery and got engaged. I was almost 4 years sober and I relapsed. I lost my job and my fiancé at the same time. I prayed and cried myself to sleep night after night after night, asking God for help. I was humbled. I was able to get my job back at My Time Recovery, and I have the opportunity to help others experience the miracle of recovery and all of the joy that comes with it. We love and appreciate all you do Gavin!

Good morning and happy Friday recovery friends and family! We have a special shout out today! Our very own MTR alumni and now Project Manager/Compliance Officer, Nicole N. is celebrating 1 year of sobriety today! Here's a little bit about Nicole in her own words.... Hi, my name is Nicole and I’m an alcoholic. That was so hard for me to admit for so long. I was a professional in the medical field, had a house, a nice car, was a single mom, hadn’t been in any trouble, I had no...t lost anythingI could not be an alcoholic right?? But a combination of severe depression and alcoholism took me to a very dark place, and I attempted suicide. That is when I was referred to Scotty Sample and My Time Recovery, they helped me realize I had lost the most important thing of allMYSELF. I was not always the easiest client, I thought my way was always better, but Scotty and his amazing team never gave up on me! Thanks to Scotty and his incredible staff I am celebrating 1 year of sobriety today! I not only have my sobriety today, but I was also given the amazing opportunity to be part of the My Time Recovery team. I am now the Operations Manager and Compliance officer for My Time Recovery. I am blessed every day to work with Scotty, Scott, Dr. Tatum, Brandi, Justin, Dawn and the rest of the incredible My Time Team. I love coming to work every day because it is not just a job but a family! Scotty and the My Time Recovery staff truly care about their clients and because of them I have my life today! Happy Friday recovery friends and family! We absolutely love showing off our amazing employees and this week we are featuring the wonderful Brandi! Here's a little bit about her in her own words! "My name is Brandi and my passion is helping others. I have a BA in psychology, a MA in marriage and family therapy and am currently working on my PhD. I am and LMFT, a LAADC and a certified animal assisted therapist. My background experience includes working with serious mental hea...lth disorders and addictions. I have worked in a variety of settings including shelters, schools, treatment centers, county funded programs, private practice and in managed care. Scotty reached out to me about joining the program when My Time was first being created but it took me two years to finally say yes to employment. I am now the clinical director for the outpatient program and I ensure the program is operating correctly from a clinical perspective. Since coming to My Time it has been a joy to see how Scotty’s vision and passion for helping others has turned into such a great business. The staff are amazing and the family-like environment makes coming to work an excitement rather than a chore. I am grateful to be a part of the My Time staff and look forward to seeing how this program will continue to grow!" Thank you for all you do Brandi! We appreciate you! <3

Happy Friday recovery friends and family!! We have grown to be a tight little family here at My Time Recovery and we would love to take a moment to introduce you to someone from our amazing team, Nick K! Here's a little bit about him in his own words...(who celebrates 1 year sober today!!) "I'm an addict named Nick. My sobriety date is 5/1/2019. I was raised by a single father and came up rough! From a young age I was taught to be tough and learned how to white knuckle ever...ything life had to throw at me. I fell in love with opiates when I was 12 years old after getting morphine while I was in the hospital for the first time. Fast forward to the age of 33 when my HERO, that single father died in my arms! For the next two years I tried killing myself on a daily basis with those same drugs because I wasn’t able to deal with life on life’s terms and was too scared of the STIGMA society would put on me for being a drug addict! Through the gift of desperation I was introduced to MTR, Scotty Sample, Haley Sample, Dr. Tatum, Filipe and the best team of people that in my eyes have given me the greatest gift of all, TIME. Time to work on myself and time to have my mind, body and spirit all in line and move through life with a purpose. My family has been a huge part in helping me throughout this journey and I wouldn't have been able to get this far without them. I find myself a year later, clean, grateful and privileged to now not only be an alumni of MTR but also being part of that same team of people who helped save my life! I would encourage you today to ask yourself, how can I do better? How can I improve today? I thought 5/1/2019 was the worst day of my life, looking back a year later, it was absolutely the best day of my life." We appreciate you Nick and Happy Birthday to you! <3

Sheer desperat...ion and the desire to live brought me to the rooms of recovery, where I met Scotty. I have had the pleasure of working with the Samples on this project from day 1! To see his vision come into fruition has been nothing short of a beautiful miracle. I am proud to be a part of team that cares more about people and saving their lives than anything else! If anybody out there feels that they relate to me in any capacity and happen to be struggling, perhaps I can lead by example by showing that if I can do it, you can do it too. -Kat Von D, The Fix Celebrating 13 years July 7th 2020! ... "Being in recovery has given me everything of value that I have in my life. Integrity, honesty, fearlessness, faith, a relationship with God, and most of all gratitude. It's given me a beautiful family and an amazing career. I'm under no illusions where I would be without the gift of alcoholism and the chance to recover from it." -Rob Lowe Celebrating 29 years of sobriety...
