Harvard and MIT lawyer up!
What is the benefit of this policy? This is wrong. Easy fix: offer class(es) for international students only. International students add to the richness of a school community.
The next academic year will look very different. Private colleges are not immune.
Unfortunately, we suspect that most urban universities will follow suit.
It was a long exhausting first day back in the office. A few pounds heavier but glad to be back. Wearing a face cover was not as difficult as I imagined. Look forward to seeing my students again!
We suspect many more colleges will follow suit.
Most of the Ivy League schools have now dropped the SAT/ACT requirement. Princeton also announces they will cancel their Early Action program.
It’s the right thing to do... Begun in 2012, the DACA program gave temporary protection from deportation to qualified individuals brought to the U.S. illegally as children. Under the program, the DREAMers were allowed to work legally and apply for college loans if they met certain requirements and passed a background check.

Class of 2020 and current college students should read this! The author makes some very good points. Please reach out if you’d like to discuss.
I don’t think it’s going to be one size fits all. I think it’s going to depend on the location of where the particular university or place of higher education is, what the demography of the students is, where they’re coming from. All of these things have to be taken into account.
A particular epidemiological challenge for college campuses arises when students leave for breaks, are exposed to infectious agents, and return to campus and possibly spread infections to others, Jenkins wrote in a letter to the faculty.
Wondering about what Fall instruction may look like on college campuses? A good read (and webinar).
Davidson College defers tuition payments. We wonder if other schools will follow. This can be a great relief to some families.

"When humanity is under threat, humans crave the humanities, write Emily Levine and Matthew Rascoff, and that ethos should guide higher education as it emerges from the coronavirus pandemic."
What are YOU doing to stay productive during the stay at home order?
They're not alone -- students at University of California campuses and New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts have echoed similar concerns about tuition not adding up to the education they were promised. Students at Miami and Drexel Universities filed a class action lawsuit for tuition refunds, but most colleges have generally been offering refunds on room and board fees, not tuition.
"Boston University may delay reopening its campus until January 2021, the school said in a university news article Friday. The move comes as universities across New England and the country evaluate ways to keep their fall semesters intact while adhering to best practices for public health."
I do acknowledge that you may be the kind of person who is comforted by structure or that your kids may prefer to know what’s going to happen in a day. If that’s the case, you can always talk to your kids about what you’re going to all be doing that day, or what you expect from them. That can be reassuring for many children. But if you find yourself running out of steam at the end of the day and you still have one more lesson to get through with them, there’s nothing wrong with just letting it go. Let them play or watch another hour of TV if that’s what it’s going to take to get through the day feeling safe and loved.

"Institutions that can’t host admitted students this spring have a lot of information to share with you, if you’re willing to take advantage of it. Read really read the material your admissions offices are putting out, says Elena Ragusa, director of strategic initiatives at Rutgers University. It will include a lot of the content that you would receive at admitted student days and on a campus tour. Many of them will offer virtual tours too, giving you a glimpse into th...e physical campus. Universities invest a lot of resources in their social media, Ragusa said. And now they will likely be using them in new ways. Watch videos, check out photos, read and engage with posts and participate in live events sponsored by colleges. On your own social media accounts, conduct a scan to see if you know anyone currently attending an institution you are considering and consider reaching out to them. If you don’t have a direct connection to someone, put out a general call, or ask a guidance counselor or trusted teacher for leads."
Class of 2021, this impacts you most. Please read!
What a time to be alive! Let’s not lose sight of the big picture. This is temporary. We WILL slow this virus down. In a few weeks, we’ll have our life back. For now, appreciate the slower pace of life. Go out for a walk. Get some fresh air.
