Here’s a question I get a lot: How long does my hair have to be for Hair Extensions? Ok so your crown part of your hair (top of head) should reach the occipital bone. It’s right between your ears and where your head and neck connect. The scalp hair should be thick enough to conceal the extension. Seeing the extension attachment points is not desirable. But it is possible for people who know how to style their hair to hide it. Some people don’t know how to hide it so I op...t for the crown area to reach the occipital bone before we proceed to installing extensions . Short hairstyles such as the pixie cut often don’t allow enough hair to cover the extensions. Without proper blending, the gap between the real hair and the extensions will be too drastic. If hair barely reaches the occipital bone, I will offer intermediate length instead of going for an extremely long look. So 12 inches to 16 inches. Otherwise, blending can be difficult. Extensions can be installed in very short hair, but blending is crucial. I have been able to pull off some amazing results. For example this pic her hair is really short on top but the kicker is this client in particular knows how to style her hair. If you have really short hair and don’t know how to style I do suggest to wait a little bit to get some length and then book an appointment trust me you will love the results.
