From Dr. Malloy: I really want to thank you for engaging in this next phase of our reopening process. I know you are under a great deal of pressure right now and I recognize that your passion is fueled by your commitment to your kids and wanting the best for them and their education. I want to reassure you that we share this passion. The messages that we are hearing the most around the two models for reopening - hybrid, in-person and full remote are:... I want to keep my teacher I want the quality of instruction in remote learning to remain high I need to understand more about hybrid instruction and health and safety protocols before I can make a decision I am worried about my child’s social emotional well-being I want my child to return to school now or as soon as possible I need you to know that many people share common concerns and, prior to having to declare, we are going to be sending you information that will address all of these concerns and more. We are waiting to send this declaration to you until we are able to provide all of this important information. We are still on track with our goal of bringing General Education Students, who so choose, back on campus for hybrid, in-person instruction on January 5, 2021. Phase 1 of our SDC students who have chosen to return to in-person learning will be back on our campuses beginning one week from today. We are ready for their safe return and are working with staff this week to be sure that everyone is in a good place and on the same page with protocols and procedures in this new environment. We are also committed to providing an effective remote learning program. You may be hearing rumblings about negotiations out in the community. Regardless of what you might be hearing, from my perspective, things continue to be positive. I have shared with the Board of Trustees and with you that if all negotiations are not finished by November 1, I will be very candid about the reasons. Until then, I ask for your patience while we work through this process. At this point, we are meeting our timelines to open for Special Day Classes this month and next and for all students on January 5, 2021. In the next two weeks, we will be spending time engaging with staff and students through interactive focus groups and meetings. In fact, we are holding small group meetings with over 150 students at the end of this week so that we can hear directly from them what they are thinking and feeling. With so much going on, I will continue to communicate with you regularly to keep you informed. Thank you for your engagement.

10.16.20 From Dr. Malloy: We are preparing to reopen schools to our Special Day Class students with our Phase One cohorts returning at the end of this month. As we prepare to bring all students back on campus beginning on January 5, 2021, I want to share some information with you about our plan to reopen. I believe that the more you know about the work we are doing, the more capable you will feel to make an informed decision when it comes time to declare your intent in Novemb...er. Additionally, by providing detailed information on the work being done, we hope to provide reassurance that the District is taking every precaution necessary to keep staff and students safe when they return to SRVUSD campuses. To aid in tracking our progress, we are adding a new tool to our Reopening Together website. We are calling it a Dashboard. The Dashboard is an easy to follow checklist of the work that we are doing and planning to do to reopen schools. It will tell you what is currently happening, what is going to happen and will note when projects have been completed. The dashboard will be updated regularly. I made a video with a brief explanation of what you can expect from our communications over the next few weeks. You can expect to see communications with information on: Health and Safety School Site and Systems Personnel Instruction Declaration Scheduling and Transition View the Dashboard:https://www.srvusd.net/dashboard Watch the Video:https://youtu.be/s9nIy2ppSG4 Guide to Reopening: srvusd.net/reopeningtogether Thank you for your high levels of engagement in this process. We will continue to be as transparent as possible to earn your trust and support.

This is the first time in the history of the United States Department of Agriculture, Food Nutrition Services that free meals are available to all children across the country. Food and Wellness advocates have fought for this student right for decades. Today, it is also referred to as food equity where every child, regardless of socioeconomic status, has access to nourishing food. Research has shown time and again that an undernourished child cannot learn and perform at their best. Please utilize this program. Tell a friend We hope to see you at one of our school sites soon

PG&E PSPS Event We have been made aware that some of our families may be affected by a PG&E Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) event scheduled for later today, Wednesday, October 14th through Thursday, October 15th. While we do not have any specific information about the PSPS, we wanted to remind you of our policy in the event of a power outage that affects your ability to log in to your classes. Rotating Power Outages: In the event of a rotating power outage during the sc...hool day, and your student does not have access to the internet or a device due to the power loss, we ask you to please do the following: If you are able, email the teacher directly and let them know. When you are able, call or email your school’s attendance line and let them know that your student is temporarily unable to engage in distance learning due to the power outage. If available, consider using your cell phone as a hotspot in order to continue attending classes remotely until the power is restored. No student will be penalized due to lack of ability to participate in distance learning due to a power outage. These situations are out of our control. We all recognize the inconvenience that it can cause, but we do not want it to cause any additional stress. Please do the best you can and know that we understand. You can find out whether you are scheduled to be affected as part of the PSPS by visiting the PG&E website and entering your address. https://pgealerts.alerts.pge.com/addresslookup/ If you have any questions about school as it relates to the PSPS, your principal can help you.
