We want to know your priorities about the programs that we usually fund, and areas where MVEF could potentially fund programs in the future for all MVWSD students. Please take a moment to complete this survey. https://docs.google.com//1FAIpQLSdx-BjnepSRS8XIzB/viewform We are also looking for board members!... With as little as 5 hours a month, you can support a well-rounded education (arts, science, wellness) for all students in the district. MVEF needs your voice and opinions for living our vision, from promoting MVEF at back to school night, to crafting a survey for our donors. Attend our next meeting or reply to this email to learn more.

The Power of Showing Up: What Kids Really Need from Adults Thursday, April 22, 2021 - 7:00 - 9:00pm | Live Online Parents worry. It’s what we do. We worry about our kids and their safety; about the times we let our kids down; if we’re giving them too little or too much attention; and how to manage in a world filled with digital distractions and endless commitments on our time. ... Reassuringly, the latest brain and attachment research is clear on how best to make a difference in our child’s life over the long run: we simply need to show up. Offering plenty of warmth and humor, Dr. Bryson will explore what showing up means, sharing stories and simple strategies for honoring the Four S’s - helping kids feel secure, seen, soothed, and safe. She'll discuss practical advice for supporting anxious kids, hitting the reset button on parenting, and creating a safe harbor at home for children of all ages. Audience: Parents, caregivers, and educators Register: To register for this free event go to https://mvla2020-21-tinapaynebryson.eventbrite.com The MVLA Parent Education Speaker Series is sponsored by Los Altos Educational Foundation (LAEF), MVLA High School Foundation, Mountain View Educational Foundation (MVEF), and Los Altos-Mountain View PTA Council.

The MVLA Scholars has started a GoFundMe Charity fundraising campaign at charity.gofundme.com/mvla-scholars. It supports MVLA high school students in college as well as the AVID mentoring program at LAHS and MVHS. The COVID 19 pandemic has increased inequality in our community and made the American dream of going to college, getting a good job and creating a better life, an even bigger challenge for low-income and first-generation students attending Mountain View and Los Altos High School. MVLA Scholars provides scholarships and mentorship to enable these local students to attend college. MVLA Scholars is 100% volunteer-run and primarily funded by individual donors from the local community. Please go to charity.gofundme.com/mvla-scholars to donate

MVEF welcomes the teachers and staff back to school! We were so excited to be able to leave treats at the school for the teacher and staff this week. Yippee! We know it has been a tough year, but as Dr. Rudolph said "it's a marathon not a sprint". This is some fuel for the long run!
