Today is the day! It's Big Day of Giving! Fighting for survival on the streets of Sacramento is exhausting. Our guests experience trauma, multiple barriers to s...ervices, sleepless nights and more. Here at Loaves & Fishes we make sure they are greeted every morning with a hot cup of coffee, served to their liking as we are in hospitable service to each person trusting us with their day. Last year your donations helped Friendship Park serve over 68,000 cups of hot coffee. Today your donation honors that every person is worthy of a slow morning with a warm cup of coffee in hand as they prepare for their day. Donate today & consider sharing this with your networks: www.bigdayofgiving.org/loavesandfishes

A piece of our history!
Thank you so much to Whitney Whichard and her daughter Brooke for setting up Harry Potter Day for our summer program kids. The amount of joy this brought! It made our week.
Mustard Seed is featured in this month's Sacramento Loaves & Fishes newsletter. Read to hear more about the pandemic and our children experiencing homelessness.
Our 2020 summer program began with lots of measures to keep everyone safe. We are so grateful to be here to provide an oasis for the children who are experiencing homelessness during this pandemic. If you would like to help, our staff has updated our Amazon wishlist with needs for the summer. We also have an immediate need for hand sanitizer and Clorox wipes. Thank you for the support! https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/3KSO5YFJ2PNSC
A message from Noel Kammermann - ED of Loaves & Fishes: Dear Loaves & Fishes Community, The recent murder of George Floyd by police officers has sent waves of ...unrest across the nation and on the streets of our own city. His death is preceded by many others, including Breonna Taylor, who was shot by officers in her own home. It has also been just a year since the Sacramento County District Attorney’s office declined to press charges over the murder of Stephon Clark. As time and history have shown us, justice for Black communities, too often goes unanswered. As we continue to provide critical survival services to our guests, it is important to be present and acknowledge the struggles experienced by persons of color and Black Americans. The long history of discrimination and oppression, as well as the lives that continue to be lost, must be met with systemic change that has yet to occur. People are frustrated, scared, and grieving. At Sacramento Loaves & Fishes, we witness the inequities in the lack of access to resources and the overcriminalization of Black and Brown guests as they are perpetually marginalized by systems of power and oppression. Beyond the acknowledgment of the pain and grief our city and nation experiences, we are making space for our collective community to embody their loss through models of belonging and resilience as exemplified by our on-campus programs. To support our guests, Maryhouse is organizing a table where people can write letters to local officials, memorialize lives lost to injustice, and express their grief. The practice model is led by Maryhouse Program Director, Shannon Dominguez-Stevens and will be implemented in other programs across campus. Loaves & Fishes, in line with the anti-oppression efforts of our founders Chris and Dan Delany, stands in solidarity with anti-racist and social justice organizations leading the way for systemic change in the greater Sacramento area and across the nation. The time now has never been more urgent for us to come together and enact a more just and equitable society. https://mailchi.mp//sacramento-loaves-fishes-filling-the-g
