Free Art Kits for Kids! monca and the Turner Print Museum are collaborating on an art project geared to ensuring fourth/fifth graders are engaging in art activities at home while we are in these interesting times. Knowing that art heals and realizing the constant need to build museum visitors and supporters of the future, these museums are teaming up together to educate from afar. Based on two works of art, one from each museum’s permanent collection, the activity presented t...o the students in the art kit will allow them to not only push their creativity but will help them gain art skills and vocabulary. Sixty art kits will be available for pick-up at monca, 900 Esplanade, November 5-8 and 12-15 during museum hours: Thursday-Sunday, 11-5 pm. Students and parent/guardian can come into the museum and observe the actual art pieces that are referenced in the project plus pick up their kit. Included in the kit will be instructions, copies of the referenced artwork, and the supplies to complete the project. These are being offered free through the generosity of CSU Chico, Turner Print Museum, monca, and outside donations. From December 3-6, students can drop-off completed artwork(s) at monca and pick up art kit 2. Student work will be on display along with the original two examples from the museums’ collections at a later date to be announced.

Today is the last day of the NVCF Week of Giving fundraising event. This online event ends at 5 pm today. The fact is EVERYONE who makes monca what it is today does it with passion and love. From the friendly faces that greet our members and visitors to the Executive Director and the Board of Directors the reasons are the same: bringing art and education into the community in as many ways as possible.... Your generous donations help monca maintain its work to fulfill the monca mission: To make art accessible and promote awareness of Northern California artists through collections, exhibitions, and educational programs. This easy process allows YOU to join in and contribute to the mission. https://www.nvcf.org//museum-of-northern-california-art-%2

monca is looking for Volunteers The museum wants to connect with YOU! We have re-opened our doors and back to working within the capacity that we are allowed. If your interest lies in marketing and public relations we are in need of social media and marketing assistance. Video work and online events are here for a while and monca wants to stay on top of this form of communication. ... We also love our docents who greet and assist visitors arriving at the museum. Working the reception desk, processing memberships, and sales in the museum shop are all a part of this volunteer position. monca’s hours of operation are Thursday-Sunday 11-5 pm. Currently, we are not able to have our Driving Docent program which goes into the schools but we are planning ahead and making contacts for the future. Events are also on hold until further notice but we want to be ready when we can so people interested in fundraising and event planning are asked to apply. All inquiries should be sent to [email protected]. We hope to hear from many new art museum lovers!
