Come and spend this Thursday night at 7pm drawing something spooky with us, using colored pencils! SJSU Animation Major @ashthemush will be guiding us through and teaching us how to draw some Spooky Scenery on October 29th for $10! There is a limit of one person per zoom link and you will recieve it the day of via email. Tickets are available for purchase via our venmo, @MuPhiEpsilonSJSU so please type your email in the message box upon purchase. We hope to see you there!

We start off this new week with another #MemberMonday! Today, our featured member is Phi Mu's Chorister, Brian You! Brian is a junior at SJSU studying Music Education in Choral Emphasis. His voice range is bass-baritone. The ensembles that Brian is in are Concert Choir and Choraliers. Before college, he was a section leader for his choir in high school for three years and was happy enough to participate in seven honor choirs total. This is Brian's third year in Mu Phi Epsil...on. When he's not in Mu Phi, he is Social Media Managing SJSU's chapter of ACDA (American Choral Director's Association). On top of that, Brian also co-directs an A Cappella group called Spartones. Brian would say the coolest things about him are his interests in dance (hip-hop), beatbox, watching sports, and looking at sneakers. It's time for another #MemberMonday! Today, we're featuring Phi Mu's Chaplain, Ankitha Rajesh! Ankitha is a Bay Area based tubist from Milpitas, CA. She is currently pursuing a Bachelor of music education and is currently studying under Forrest Byram. She is an active member of SJSU's symphonic band and brass ensemble. Outside of her work at SJSU, Ankitha looks forward to spending summers marching drum corp. So far she has marched 2 years with Vanguard cadets and is currently with The Academy. Through her time with Mu Phi, she fell in love with the familial aspect and the friendships that have been strengthened through this organization. Tonight at 7pm, have your voices heard! Students of our SJSU NAfME Collegiate Advocacy Committee have helped put together a Town Hall on Systemic Racism in the department. Via NAfME: "The purpose of this Town Hall is for SMD students of color to share their perspectives and experiences in order to inform future action. The Town Hall is an important step of a larger process that will inform short-term and long-term changes to the Music Program's curriculum, organization, and... structure, enacted to make the School a more equitable environment for all. All will be welcome, including POC students and faculty and non-POC students and faculty. The conversation will be centered on the experiences of students of color, with a goal of providing faculty and staff context and tools to establish the needs of the students and ultimately take concrete actions." It's time for another #MemberMonday! Our next featured member is Phi Mu's Historian, Muskan Parashar! Muskan is from Santa Clarita, CA. She is a junior at SJSU, pursuing a BM in vocal performance as a mezzo-soprano. In addition to performing with SJSU ensembles like Choraliers, Concert Choir, Opera Theater, and Collegium Musicum, she had also been a long-time member of the Santa Clarita Master Chorale. Other performances include an ensemble role in El Dorado Opera's "The Ma...gic Flute" and, more recently, the role of a Street Singer in SJSU Theater/Opera Theater's "The Threepenny Opera." She enjoys collecting books (although getting time to sit down and read them is another story...). Muskan loves the friendship and comeradery that surrounded her immediately upon joining Mu Phi, especially since she transferred to SJSU and didn't know many people. Rushing with Mu Phi was one of the best decisions she's made since joining SJSU! Catch Muskan at the end of the week, when she'll be taking us through her day for #TakeoverThursday!
