Does your OCD kick in looking at bad drywall repairs? Did You hired someone with no experience and were told and promised a cheap pro job and the person you hired made a disaster? What’s the difference between DIY homeowners or Handymen who say they know how to drywall and finish but don’t have a clue? ... Drywall materials are fairly cheap in general, the cost is the Installer who is skilled and has years of experience and knowledge that can tackle tough situations. All sorts of factors come to mind when doing repairs. What’s the lighting situation as shadows thruout the day and direct sunlight all affect the looks of walls and ceilings. Does your install have good references and reviews and a history of good work ethics? Communication before the job even starts, does your drywall technician call or text back, did you get an estimate and a follow up on setting up a scheduled repair date and is the repair done in a reasonable time? So many questions need to be asked, Why? It’s your home, your sanctuary and the Drywall technician you hired should be respectful and treat your home with care. That means plastic and floor protection, dust control as best as possible and cleaning up afterward. I’ve seen what should have been easy jobs for a pro , get turned upside down. Not only is there the first coat of repair, now homeowners have additional cost hiring a professional drywall tech to repair it properly. Do your homework and ask questions

Having over 33 years of experience in the drywall industry, I’ve seen 1000s of great and botched jobs. Some were done by homeowners, some handymen, some drywall techs and some were different sized general contractors. Some of the jobs done by theses one mentioned were amazing, some mediocre and a majority were horr...ible and needed redone. I always recommend doing the upfront leg work and researching your tradesmen and women. Some simple questions to ask yourself when searching for drywall work are: Is this company legitimate? How long have they been around? What’s their online presence and ratings? Does this person or company have current references to give you so that you can call and discuss your experiences with them. Does the person or company have current photos and videos of their work that they can provide you, Before and after photos are great but are they actually the work that was done by that company or individual? Lots of copy and paste options for fly by night companies and solo guys and gals. Cleanliness is huge, if you think not, wait till you have your home cleaned a dozen times trying to rid it of drywall dust. It is super fine and gets in the heating and cooling ducts as well as floating around ruining computers and electronics. A huge one is the communication with texting and phone calls, does that company or individual ghost you or disappear and not return calls or text?
