A message from Chief Chris Hsiung regarding our department's safety efforts leading up to Inauguration Day Your Mountain View Police Department has been, and... will continue to remain, vigilant in monitoring news and media outlets to stay updated and informed about what is occurring at the federal, state, and local levels as it relates to Inauguration Day. We want to assure you, we have no information at this time to suggest that the safety of our community, our residents, or our businesses could in any way be jeopardized. We are ever-prepared, though, for anything that may arise in the coming days. Your safety and security remain top of mind. We also ask that our community continue to remain steadfast in their efforts to be neighborly, and to keep an eye out for one another in the days ahead. Firefighter Paramedic Chris Houston, his work assignment is normally on Engine 51 at our downtown fire station on Shoreline Blvd. However, for the next two weeks, he is working in the emergency room at Mission Community Hospital in Panorama City treating Covid -19 patients. Please join us in wishing him a safe and successful deployment.

The U.S. National Weather Service (NWS) has forecast a warming trend that will begin today, October 13, 2020 and last through this Friday, October 16, 2020. We can expect a warming and drying trend through Friday with temperatures in the low to mid 90s. Cooling is expected over the coming weekend. The City of Mountain View will open the Community Center located at 201 South Rengstorff Avenue from 1:00 pm 7:00 pm today, Tuesday, October 13th through Friday, October 16th as an air conditioned cooling center open to the public to find shelter from the heat.

We can expect hot temperatures along the coastline through tomorrow, Saturday, October 17, 2020. Cooler temperatures are anticipated later this weekend and into next week. The City of Mountain View will open the Community Center located at 201 South Rengstorff Avenue from 1:00 pm 7:00 pm today, Friday, October 16, 2020 through tomorrow, Saturday, October 17th as an air conditioned cooling center open to the public to find shelter from the heat.

0100 hours: Engine 51 at a dumpster fire in the 1300 block of El Camino with extension to fence and large storage building on Mountain View Ave. No injuries and the fire was extinguished rapidly preventing further damage.

Please do not park in front of the fire stations when you stop to drop off your ballot. Never park on the front apron of a fire station or along a curb painted red for any amount of time or for any reason. Ballot boxes are at stations 1, 3, and 4 for you to use.

On September 14th, MVFD Firefighter Paramedic Tim Houweling and his Search Dog George of the #MenloParkFire #FEMA #TaskForce3 were requested by #CalOES to join Sacramento #TaskForce7. The Task Force was requested to assist the #ButteCountySheriff in searching for possible victims of the North Complex Fire around Berry Creek near Lake Oroville. Sadly 15 people perished in the Fire. After 10 operational periods searching and identifying hazards for abatement, Firefighter Paramedic Tim Houweling and canine George returned safely to Mountain View on September 26th.
